Runoff election today

For those who didn't take advantage of last week's early voting period, polls are open today in Peachtree City to determine the winner of the Post 2 seat on the City Council.

Polls will be open until 7 p.m. today and results will be posted on TheCitizen.com as soon as they are available this evening.

The runoff election pits Mike King against Doug Sturbaum, though both candidates have said they have much in common. Both men agreed to avoid attacking the other, instead sticking to the issues of the campaign.

The main difference is that King feels current city ordinances are adequate to govern development, while Sturbaum supports making the city's land use plan into law so it can be strongly enforced.

The runoff was precipitated by the results from the November election when none of the four candidates garnered more than 50 percent of the vote. Don Haddix won the Post 1 seat outright, beating two other candidates in the field.
