Clean up crew seeks home for trashed treasuresTue, 11/27/2007 - 5:18pm

The saying “one person’s junk is another person’s treasure” has rung true many times for Amy Adams since she started the professional hauling service 1-800-GOT-JUNK? last May. However, last week when Adams’ junk-removal crew came across a home that was filled with brand new stuffed toys, porcelain dolls, Barbies and beanie babies, she knew she had to find a home where children could cherish them. “I promised the homeowner that I would do everything within my power to find children who were in need of them,” said Adams. “I know there are families right here in Fayette County who are unable to buy their children gifts at Christmas. I’d like to be able to connect with them and help the local children have something to look forward to Christmas day.” The abandoned toys sparked an idea. Adams thought of all the customers she comes into contact with each day who are fortunate enough to have a comfortable home and efficient income. She decided to offer a $20 discount on her junk-removal service to customers who donate a brand new toy from now until Dec. 15. Adams wants to hear from anyone in the community who knows of a family or child who is in need of toys for Christmas. Anyone who would like to share a story of someone in the community whose Christmas would be brightened by a toy donation can email Adams at amy.adams@1800gotjunk.com until Dec. 15. Donations will be distributed on Friday, Dec. 16 so that families will have time to prepare them for Christmas Day. login to post comments |
