Big fines face water violatorsTue, 11/27/2007 - 4:38pm
By: John Thompson
The Fayette County Commission is looking at getting extremely serious with residents who violate the county’s outdoor water restrictions. During Thursday night’s meeting, the County Commission will consider adding an administrative program with three levels for violating the restrictions. The first violation will result in a warning, but the second violation would carry a $500 fine. The third violation would implement a $1,000 fine and lock the water service. The program would authorize Water System Director Tony Parrott to terminate all irrigation meters during a Level 4 Drought Declaration. If passed, the implementation day would be next Monday. In another water-related issue, the county will also discuss acquiring and installing waterless urinals throughout county buildings. Other items on Thursday’s agenda include: • Discussion of a mutual aid and automatic aid agreement with the city of Fairburn. • Discussion of the Sheriff’s Department Field Operations Division’s request to sell 207 Glock handguns to Autrey’s Armory in the amount of $54,582 and to use the proceeds to replace emergency lighting equipment, radios, and in-car cameras. • Consideration of a petition by Thomas Chandler and George W. West requesting to rezone 4.02 acres from A-R to O-I to develop a 12-bed hospice. This property is located near the intersection of Ga. Highway 54 and Gingercake Trail Drive. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the County Administrative Complex on Stonewall Avenue in Fayetteville. login to post comments |
