Fayetteville police are investigating a report of shots fired outside a private party hosted at the Legacy Performing Arts Center in north Fayetteville Saturday after 10 p.m.

No one was injured and no damage was discovered in the area, police said.

The incident began when several people became upset that an entry fee was being charged at the door for a sweet 16 birthday party, said Fayetteville Police spokesman Steve Crawshaw. An argument ensued and some people banged on the exterior windows of the facility, Crawshaw said.

Just before they left, the aggrieved group went back to a car in the parking lot when witnesses reported hearing what was thought to be four gunshots, Crawshaw said.

No witnesses saw any guns or saw any shots being fired, Crawshaw said. The suspects got away in what was believed to be a silver Dodge Magnum, Crawshaw said.

The Legacy Performing Arts Center is located on North 85 Parkway just off Ga. Highway 85 north.

Yes, it's ridiculous that there was a cover charge for a sweet 16 party, but the fact that people get so out of hand over such a small issue is ridiculous. Does no one believe in self-control anymore?

Self control, delayed gratification, parental responsibility, and personal ethics died a quite death along with common sense many decades ago for large portions of our population. Only Political Correctness remains. We live in a "gimme, gimme" world where all that matters is "I WANT". Violence tends to be the inevitable response to "You can't have" for this segment of our society.

I personally hope that this incident was just a car backfiring. But then, I've always been an optimist.

I have a very hard time believing that some one would feel so entitled as to get "upset that an entry fee was being charged at the door for a sweet 16 birthday party."

Surely this assumption is an error.

Why, if this were true they would expect free health care, free college tuition and loans, job quotas, free dental, free childcare, subsidized mortgages, and subsidized food.

You don't actually expect us to believe that anyone feels so entitled do you?

That's as silly as someone going to Grady's Emergency room for a common cold because they don't want to pay for any health care coverage!

Oh, by the way, Happy 'Sweet' 16.

Car backfired...that's what it was.

I'm always amazed at how the "right" can take a story about, sayyyy, possible gunshots, and spin it into an oh so familiar diatribe on people who expect everything handed to them. As best I can tell, this is a story about possible gunshots outside of a sweet 16 party. Now certainly I could come into this blog in Giuliani fashion and say, "Now see? This is why we need to register all guns and begin a process to get guns off of the street." Or I could, like Giuliani did as "The Mayor," blame southern state gun makers for the shots fired outside of this club. But Rightonthemoney, that wouldn't make much sense would it? I don't think so.

That is because we are. Right - Correct - Right on - Accurate - Right on the point - Always right - Right in every way.

Spinning the story the way you did is not "right". Why don't we wait until the teenager with a gun (owned legally, you think?) is caught and tells his story.

A cover charge for a sweet 16 party? Are you kidding me?

"A cover charge for a sweet 16 party? Are you kidding me?"

But kids do alot of dumb things for attention. I've seen cap guns and firecrackers used to scare people. Let's hope these were "wannabe" gangsters.
