Erasing Misperception and Racist Attitudes

I AM ONE of the proud BLACK OWNER of the ONYXX Restaurant. Yes both Owners are FEMALE. A phenomenal rarity in Restaurant Society. Yes, we provide service with a smile. The Citizen doesn't seem to be nothing but a channel of hatred of black entrepreneurship. We are trying to live out OUR American Dream, as well as, live a legacy to our youth. Yes, we are very much open to all races. Our atmosphere is one of warmth and excellence, our attitudes are fun loving. our food is delicable. You are only welcome if you can handle what we have to serve.

I am here to erase your ignorance and racist attitude. It seems you need to to spend your time in more areas that reflect the positive than your negative hatred.

For some reason those that have answered this response with negativity. You need to have heart surgery with your God.

All are Welcomed in His House.

Hmm...what does ONYXXONIT say?

I AM ONE of the proud BLACK OWNER of the ONYXX Restaurant. Yes both Owners are FEMALE.

What does Our (Former) Representative to Outer Space (aka Cynthia McKinney) say?

me, a female, BLACK [emphasis in the original newscast] congresswoman

I wonder if she's related to Ms. Cynthia? Eye-wink

Listen Ms. Onyxx, seriously, us Fayette Countians really could care less if you are white, black, brown, red, green, or whatever your skin color is. All we really care about is getting a good meal with a smile. In my humble opinion, you should spend less time bemoaning the "fact" that so many of your potential patrons are racists and instead spend more time advertising your business. I do wish you best of luck! Smiling

Is the Onyx restaurant in Fayetteville owned and operated by the same folks that own the Onyx in Atlanta?

See the link below to a story on the Onyx in ATL.

I did some research - and this topic was discussed in January - with many feeling that this business would not last in Fayetteville. The restaurant is still open. Those who do not want to pay a lot for a meal, or listen to jazz while they eat do not frequent this restaurant. Kudos to the owners - and we wish them success. The restaurant business is a tough one. We have been here only four years - and have witnessed the closing of some restaurants. We've been to the Onyxx twice. . .and we'll go again. There are no strip dancers there. The night that we went - we heard a fantastic jazz singer. (Sometimes you wonder why some artists make it big - and others with marvelous talent - seem to be unknown) Hopefully the young lady we heard at the Onyxx will someday be a recognized star. The crab cakes that I ordered were great. My visit on a Sunday afternoon was not so great - but that was sometime ago. Those who don't mind paying the going price for a good meal served on white linen while listening to good jazz - without driving to Atlanta - will enjoy the Onyxx. (I'm just not sure that there are enough jazz enthusiasts who are willing to pay the price in Fayetteville to frequent the Onyxx.) The gas price situation may be a boast to this restaurant. I love Sambucas - but with the price of gas - that is an expensive night out!! There are minority business owners in Fayetteville who are doing quite well.

Keep racism out of this. (Reference to the posts from the January discussion)

There is so much irony in the rant above. I do have some general comments:

- First, thanks for spelling out that you are black and a woman. If nobody else knew, all of us in Fayette county know the race and gender of the owner(s)of the restaurant(s) that we decide to give our business.

- Secondly, I LOVE people who make blanket accusations with no back-up. Please provide samples of how the citizen hates black entrepreneurship. I rarely, if ever post, but I would love to review some substance behind your accusation.

- Thirdly, your next few sentences are very true and I think you and your business partner deserve kudos for going after the American dream!

- Finally, if my retort is negative and I need a heart transplant as you so kindly suggest - can you support my surgery? Of course, I kid.

Your ridiculous post only gives me a reason to NEVER visit your restaurant. Frankly, you seem like a bitter business owner who needed to blow off some steam. I sincerely hope that everyone else who reads your post will feel the same way as I do. Good luck to you, and your business.

I will NEVER visit the Onyxx in Fayetteville. I can only imagine the atmosphere inside when the entrepreneurs have the attitude vented here.

I'm a firm believer in the "trickle down theory." That simply means if the management/owners have this nasty of an attitude, then it trickles down throughout the business and is tolerated in the employees who deal directly with the public. No Thanks!!

I also believe in karma, so Onyxx owners don't be surprised when this negative attitude that you've thrown out here, returns to you and your business.

To which blogs or comments are you replying?

Also, everyone will be pleased to learn that "The Citizen doesn't seem to be nothing but a channel of hatred of black entrepreneurship." For if it "doesn't seem to be nothing but" that, then it follows that it does seem to be something other than that. And that's all to the good, right?

I'm not sure what it means to say that your food is "delicable." Is that a good thing? I cannot find the entry in my dictionary. Microsoft Word thought that I meant "declinable" when I typed it in there. Is your food "declinable"?

Thanks for adding your comments. Together with another couple, we had planned to come to your establishment last evening for dinner and to enjoy an evening together, we were dissapointed to find out that you were fully booked with a private function... but glad at the same time that the demand has increased. Well done. We will be back another time. We have only heard good things about the Onyxx!
God bless you and continue to prosper you.

Regards,
NatesSweetpea
