A Fayetteville woman died Wednesday afternoon when her car crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and was struck by a dump truck, sheriff’s deputies said.

Andrea J. Williams-Coffey, 46, was driving a 2006 Mitsubishi Endeavor going east on 54 near Simpson Road when the collision occurred just after noon, police said. She suffered severe injuries and died at the scene, police said.

Both Williams-Coffey and the dump truck driver, John Leroy Bidne, 60, of Senoia, wore seatbelts. Bidne was checked by emergency medical personnel at the scene and was not transported for treatment.

Bidne was driving a 1994 Mack dump truck and heading west at the time of the crash, police said. The vehicles collided head-on, police said.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing at this point, police said.
