To Assistant Superintendent Sam Sweat: My name is Wade Gaddy and I live in Sutton’s Cove in Peachtree City.

I have a 4-year-old daughter, Alli, who has been living for the day she can “go to school” at Kedron.

This past summer every time we would go to the Kedron pool, her greatest thrill was seeing “her” school.

As a result of your, and your committee’s, decision to redistrict the elementary schools, it will be necessary for me to tell her that she can’t go to “her” school because a group of people, probably none of whom will have their decisions affect their children, have decided that “her” school should be given to children that live “near Wal-Mart and Home Depot.”

Please reconsider your redistricting of Kedron Elementary and let my daughter attend “her” school.

Wade Gaddy and Alli Gaddy

Peachtree City, Ga.

I appreciate and respect those parents who have given hours upon hours of their time to participate in the redistricting process. I am sure that this issues weighs heavy on their hearts and minds. They have tried to do the best they can with the criteria they were asked to use. I am ashamed for citizens who are so small minded that they blame the parent committee for promises they can't keep to their children. My second grade son will be moving to his third school. He doesn't want to but understands that he can learn, grow and make new friends wherever he attends school. I would bet Alli can do the same. It's a shame that her father was not given the opportunity to experience change and adversity earlier in his lifetime. If he had, he most definitely wouldn't make such unnecessary comments about children who live "near Wal-Mart and Home Depot." Some of those children have lost many special moments with their father while he was away fighting for Mr. Gaddy's right to speak ignorantly.

How can you sit their and attack Mr. Gaddy. Every child has the right to be excited about their education, and every parent has the right to be excited for him or her. Mr. Gaddy's words were not an attack anyone in particular. He was merely stating fact. I know Mr. Gaddy personally, and I know him to be nothing but a respectful man and a loving husband and father. Wise up, Ms. Warder!

Your daughter is lucky in two ways. She has not yet begun school and she will still be able to attend a neighborhood school at Crabapple Lane. The school is less than a tenth of a mile difference in distance. Also it is well represented by Kedron families from Kedron Hills, Smokerise, Stonybrook, The Peninsula, North Cove, Ardenlee and now all of Georgian Parkway. All these subdivisions attended Kedron Elementary from the beginning investing 9 years in the school before being redistricted to Crabapple Lane. She will do fine at Crabapple Lane.

My son was 4 1/2 when we moved to this area. We lived w/i sight of a gorgeous and very highly regarded elementary school in North Jersey. We helped them with plans for the new playground and remodeling of the old one. We used to play there all the time and on the extensive grounds. He used to visit the classes and always referred to it as "his" school. We moved here and he's been in private school for 5 years and would be going to E. Fayette for 5th grade. He also can't wait for that and refers to it as "his" school. Now E. fayette may close, but you know what? He'll be fine and kids in general are fine. They adapt and make friends and get acclimated to their new surroundings easily. It's us parents who cause the strife. Relax, your daughter will be fine.

The way the adutls handle it, the children handle it. My child attended 4 different elementary schools, 3x in Kindergarten and she is not any worse off than my other child who has stayed in the same school for 6 years.
