A University of Georgia student was arrested Friday after he traveled to Peachtree City to meet with a girl he thought was 15 years old, police said. That girl turned out to be an undercover police officer with the Peachtree City Police Department. Joseph Carroll, 22, of Athens, was charged with violation of the computer pornography and child exploitation act of 1999. In addition to being enrolled at UGA, Carroll is also employed as an event staff member for special events, police said. Carroll is the 22nd person to be arrested as part of the police department's ongoing Internet sting on child predators. So far, all of the persons arrested in the sting have either been found guilty at trial, have pled guilty or are awaiting trial. The arrest was part of an effort between Peachtree City police and the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. login to post comments |
