Sandy Creek’s Lady Patriots softball team has advanced further than any team in school history in the Class AAA softball playoffs.

The team defeated Northside, Columbus 1-0 on Thursday and followed it with a 3-0 win over South Effingham. Pitcher Kayla Folds was on the mound for both shutouts with 15 strikeouts in the two games.

Against Northside, Kayla Awbrey hit a sacrifice fly driving in Mackenzie Arlt. In the South Effingham game, Candace Dunn hit a three run home run in the first inning.

Sandy Creek will take on Blessed Trinity today at 5 p.m. and the winner advances to the championship game.

Whitewater’s Lady Wildcats fell to Marist 2-1 yesterday in the Class AAAA playoffs and will take on Lee County at 11 a.m. this morning. If they win, they will take on Greenbrier at 3 p.m.
