Discussion of Tyrone's Issues

IT is clear that we need to discuss the issues, identify the issues, discuss possible solutions.

Please post what you think is an issue in the Tyrone Election that is not a name-calling issue.

I will start:

1) Trickum Creek Cemetery - possiblity of another lawsuit.

2) The number of lawsuits filed against the town of Tyrone in the last several years.

3) The Sewer & redevelopment of downtown.
- How many people remember getting the "survey" in the mail? I think I recall someone else said it was in with the trash bill or something???

4) Property rights

5) Barry Amos - this is an undeniable issue. People do not like him and he has created problems for folks and this is why they don't like him.....sorry, but it is an issue.

6) Jesse Nasisceno - where the heck is he? I have not heard word one from him since the forum. If I have missed it, please someone tell me where it is. I am always scared of the quiet guy....any thoughts?

7) Re-building the public trust in our town officials.

8) Containing growth in a responsible way.

9) Shamrock park

10) The budget - why has no one talked about the budget. I have not seen anything about it......

Come on ya'll let's begin our own forum and discuss the issues.
Thanks

Now it all makes sense. Anyone who does not understand what has been going on in Tyrone for the past 8 years should read this entire blog here...it makes so much sense. Smola has been trying to run the town and dissolve any opposition.

Also see the blog called "Smola Trashes the Tyrone Neighborhood Alliance" - it has some light shedding info also!!

VOTE GORDON SHENKLE & TRACY YOUNG FOR COUNCIL

This is for Tyrone Aries and any others that would like to
know my position(s). Please go to the Forum (upper right on this page) I posted the latest tonight. If you still have questions, let me know cecilthyme@numail.org.
I didn't address the cemetery; but I do have an about 2" stack of documentation, pictures and correspondence concerning this desecreation. I, too, think the whole situation stinks.

Thank you Don!! I have read your essays and feel very good about voting for you!! Ironically you are the only candidate to even take notice of my blog. That speaks highly of you over the other candidates too!! Please let us know what you find out about the cemetery issue and thank you for your prompt and entirely appropriate response, something that has been missing from Tyrone's government for a long time. Can't wait until you get elected!!!!!! Smiling

I came on here to post some issues but was lead astray by TNAG - all over this sight, tnag is saying everyone is in the TNA - this is a non-issue and this blog is for issues!!

ISSUE: To all candidates: Will you be truthful and address citizens concerns or will you ignore them?

This shows our true color, promote a cndidate that does not belive in God. Way to go Tyrone Neighborhood Alliance Group.

TNAG for lying about this....there is absolutely no evidence to support this. But it is all the "mud" they have to sling.....so sad.

2 Timothy 3:16 states:
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, [and] for instruction in righteousness." (KJV)

I am not a member of the TNA - stop implying that I am!!

I do support Don Renwaldt. And I support Tracy Young, and Gordon Shenkle!

Or, Maybe Darrow?

Submitted by Tyrone90210 on Thu, 10/25/2007 - 1:38pm.

Yep - I agree. Smartypants can't stand it......she says she is gonna go away and then back she is as TNAG!! You are only making yourself look bad.....OK the attack on Renwaldt framed as "Renwaldt is part of the bad TNA that did not do this or that" -whatever- it failed. Now all they have is this God issue, so they are going to try it one more time, but nobody is buying it. I don't think God would appreciate being slung around by mud slinging wanna be politicians and their wives. Do you?

Also, Mark Darrow was seen in the parking lot after the Tyrone candidate forum at the legacy in deep conversation with Dial and his family - hugging and all.....Was it just a set up by Smola/Amos or was Dial in on it? Whatever it was, it was and still is pitiful.

NOLA SMOLA - I love that, whoever came up with it - thanks!!

Submitted by Tyrone90210 on Thu, 10/25/2007 - 12:56pm.

Nobody I know who posts here is in the TNA - we had to ask questions about the TNA to get answers about them - for a good response see oldbeachbear's response as to who the TNA is and why they began organizing.

PS: the candidates are on the blog, so this is a good idea I have made - to post concerns, questions and whatever else you think is an issue to the candidates and give them an opportunity to repond.

Submitted by Tyrone Aries on Wed, 10/24/2007 - 3:10pm.

Post your issues here too. What is the deal with all this TNA stuff?

Submitted by VanGogh on Wed, 10/24/2007 - 4:41pm.

yeah, i got questions; some are repeats of yours but here it goes anyway -

i am curious about this tyrone neighborhood alliance that keeps getting bashed and blamed; what is up with this and how does it relate to the governing of the town? Are they special interest? Do they have any pull? Will candidates consider them in decision making?

i also want to know where the guys running for office feel about the cemetery issue - this is a bad bad bad bad thing that has happened and we should do something to protect the graves.???

a while back there was an article about refunding impact fees that people have paid to tyrone.....are they being refunded?

shamrock park - please get another entrance/exit!

Submitted by oldbeachbear on Wed, 10/24/2007 - 7:24pm.

The Tyrone neighborhood alliance was a group of people who had all had outragous things done to them independantly by the powers that be in Tyrone. Some had their property rezoned or property next to theirs, rezoned without any notification. Many different things, but they all had a central theme. Tyrone didn't obey its own laws and these people all came up on the short in of the stick. I had never been involved in any kind of politics, didn't vote half the time, and generaly unconcerned, till Tyrone government hit me over the head with a sledge hammer! I was outraged and went to a town hall meeting and found many others in the same boat. Much to my disbelief, these people when they came to town to tell what happened to them, were talked down to and sneered at. Someone networked these people and we all had our first meeting at the Pendleton club house. About 100 people showed up and I'm sorry to say, one of them was Smola. He did his normal thing, talked down, sneered, but mainly kept us from discussing the problems. We tried again, and this time Smola sent his wife. She dominated the meeting, but that was her plan, and of course, we couldn't talk about the problem as part of it was sitting in the room. The group because of this, got smaller. To kill it off completley, Smola announced at town hall, he was forming his own neighborhood alliance called the Focus group. That was weird. He then went on to say it would be the only neighborhood group the town would recognize and he would appoint its leaders! Years later, there are a few of the same people that were/maybe still are, I'm not/in the group. When Smola sees them show up at town hall and it drives him nuts. He swears their ranks have swelled and anyday the CIA/ FBI/ and boyscouts are gonna surround them and haul them all off to jail.
That is/was the neighbor hood alliance. Smola has to have someone to blame for his loss, so he has resurrected it, boogy man out to get you and all. I think he is paronoid. Think about what he said in his last deal...I was 48 minutes late so they didn't print my stuff...translated...they are out to get me...real life...he was just late, but that is how he thinks.

Would you give me your permission to take your post above explaining the whole TNA situation and put it in a free speech article to be in the print edition of the Citizen?
Let me know!
Thanks!

IF this is true, and I tend to believe it. That's incredible! It makes total sense to me. There are a lot of people in the community with absolute horror stories about their dealings with town hall in almost all of its' capacities, from town manager to town council to town attorney. It is really difficult to believe but I believe it. I have seen it. It is hard to take power away from someone. People revel in power. Those that are most likely to abuse power are drawn to powerful positions, like government. Things are coming together. Everyone has been so scared to talk about anything, it seems like they feared negative backlash from Barry and Valerie. I mean I personally have heard about 3-4 people say that they feared what might happen to them if they tried to buck Barry. By feared negative backlash, I mean mostly in losing their jobs or having trouble at their jobs, but not just working for the city - people working in the school system, & local business owners); but some people have feared being arrested &/or harassed without warrant by police. Where these fears come from, well, we can only surmise, but this just makes sense. Smola threatening the FBI & CIA and designating the Focus as the only allowable neighborhood group that the town would recognize and that he would appoint the leaders!!?? Give me a break. Smola sounds delusional in his power. Sounds like he is getting what he deserves. The town has just gotten away from the citizens. Let's CLEAN HOUSE and try again.

...and I don't even live in Tyrone! I just can't stand arrogance and complete incompetence, that is a very lethal combination. If you are really intelligent and have some keen insight, great, you can get away with some arrogance. When you are inept, surly and not brighter than a box of rocks, you might want to try being humble.

He's about to be tossed out on his backside and I'm pretty sure his wife will follow if she attempts another run. I won't miss either of them one bit. Some of the BS in Fayette County politics these days reminds of the dark ages of people like Sprayberry and Burrell.

"i also want to know where the guys running for office feel about the cemetery issue - this is a bad bad bad bad thing that has happened and we should do something to protect the graves.???"

I know how Young, Shenkle, and Rewhaldt feel about the issue, but since Dial has never set foot into a town council meeting until he decided to run for council, I doubt he knows anything about this issue. Matthews and Smola see this as a non-issue since they deny they had any knowledge of being part of allowing a developer to come in and bulldoze right over a family cemetery. But someone had to allow this to happen, someone had to sign a paper telling the greedy developer he could destroy a family cemetery which included an infants grave. Nice folks....

Submitted by Tyrone Aries on Wed, 10/24/2007 - 6:49pm.

Wasn't Sheryl Lee's son involved in the development? If anyone knows please post some info. Thanks!

Infant graves.....what a total disgrace!!

Submitted by oldbeachbear on Wed, 10/24/2007 - 8:15pm.

I have heard that it is common knowledge he use to work for the developer as his forman or something like that. Yes, there were two infant graves, now only one, and I missed it several times, it looks like a pile of rubble, but someone swept the leaves off the edge and there is is, open and exposed, poor little thing. There are some pictures of the cemetery taken around 2000 -2002. It shows headstones, one was Nancy's and I assume her husband must be next to her, I don't know who the other gravestone belonged to. She was to the west of the one of two cemetery trees that is left, the other one is up rooted and pushed about 100 feet or more down the hill. Neighbors have said it was more graves and so does the report. All I know is everyone seems to agree, nothing happened till after the land was sold in 2003.

Can bands perform at the legacy?

Submitted by Daniel Ross on Wed, 10/24/2007 - 6:22pm.

The Legacy can be rented out to groups only if there are no productions going on when you want to rent it.

For example:
a show is currently running for 3 months at the Legacy. It probably cannot be rented out during those three months. however, there are off months when plays are in rehearsal that I believe it can be rented out.

For more information,
visit http://www.thelegacytheatre.org/rental_space.html or call Mrs. Bethany Hayes Smith at (404) 895 - 1473
