A 14-year-old Senoia child was injured Sunday after falling off the front of a golf cart and being run over by it, police said.

Police cited the cart driver, a 12-year-old Peachtree City resident, for underage operation of a golf cart and the injured person was also cited for hazardous activities, police said.

The cart’s owner, Cheryl Ann Shuler, 45, of Bedford Park, Peachtree City was cited for allowing underage operation of a golf cart, and another passenger on the cart, also 12, was cited for underage operation of a golf cart for having previously driven the cart, police said.

The accident occurred on the cart path along Ga. Highway 54 near Commerce Drive, police said.

I, too, am getting upset with kids and their golf carts. I know of 3 underage kids who have THEIR OWN golf carts. Can you believe it? Also, a friend of my daughter tried to convince her to turn our golf cart on with a pair of SCISSORS so she could drive it to her house (yes, it works). As for me, we've re-keyed our golf cart and had a "governor" installed, which slows down the speed. Just an FYI and a vent!

IF you know some who is underage and regularly drives a cart, I would turn them in.

That said, I'm on the paths between spyglass and the amphitheater/library/city hall all the time, for the most part, folks are polite. I have seen just as much rudeness from adults as I do the kids. The guys late for their golf match can be the worst.

We have almost stopped walking on the paths because of the many young children we see driving golf carts without adult supervision. Just a few weeks ago, my shoulder was lightly brushed by a speeding golf cart, three kids, the one driving looked to be under the age of thirteen and the other two were hanging off, climbing from seat to seat. I jumped out of the way and almost fell. They never looked back, never slowed down, and I know they all realized how close they came to knocking me to the ground. For our daily exercise, we have started walking on sreets rather than take the risk of getting hurt on the paths.

Ooppssss, hope the CHILD will be okay. Often while driving down Peachtree Parkway, we see these CHILDREN acting crazy on the carts. No supervision at all. Racing after each other and just being reckless. So, whose responsibility do you really think it is ? ? ? ? The parent is the correct guess!

Don't live in PTC but isn't the age of operation w/o adult 15?
Did anyone hear how badly the child was injured?

Yup. That's why they were cited for underage driving.

Don't know about the injury, but what's this "falling off the front". Is that like hanging on the front bumper. The story is not clear, but it sounds like a bonehead move. I, too, hope the teen wasn't hurt badly but learned some lessons.
