Shamrock Park: Who Cares?

I've been reading a lot about how people love this park and how certain politicians want to destroy it to build municipal complexes such as a library, police station, and a town hall...Well I say burn it to the ground.

Sarcastic Version:

God forbid that Tyrone should have a decent library. You're right, I'm fine with the closet we have. No,no, you're right, I probably shouldn't read any books published after 1954.

I'll tell you what I do love though: baseball diamonds!!! I think the whole town of Tyrone will agree with me on this! I can think of three baseball complexes within 3 miles of each other without having to think...and do you know what I love more than baseball diamonds??? EMPTY baseball diamonds! and thank goodness that's what they are 94% of the week. I'm really glad that we've dedicated a chunk of shamrock park to something that enriches everyone's lives: baseball...can you imagine what would happen if those blood drinking terrorist sympathizers decided to put a police station there...or worse than that...a library!!! perish the thought! lock up your daughters, subversion is coming to town!

Serious Version:

If you've made it here, then thank you for reading my sarcastic version. In any case, the point is that the priorities of this town are messed up. We have a lot of avenues for people who like to play sports and to be active, yet we don't have a decent library. This translates into our schools as well. Often times you hear about schools cutting back on the arts, but football is never underfunded. It is proven that children who engage in the arts are generally better students and more intelligent people overall...whereas with sports.....well,that's not proven...it's not to say that people who like sports are stupid, it depends on the person, but it is proven that the arts enhance something within you. So it really comes down to what people value and how they raise their kids.

So what's important, 3 different baseball fields where kids can learn to hit various types of balls or high S.A.T. scores? Is it that hard of a decision?
