Tyrone debate

Tonight, Smola took credit for EVERYTHING good the town has done in the past years....right down to patting himself on the back for the fountain in Shamrock Park! The funny thing is everyone knows he did everything he could to do away with the park, much less put a fountain in it! Many locals worked very hard on their own time to restore the park. A lot of the money that the county gave to fix it up wandered over to Handley Park. I didn't think what he said tonight was very straight forward and was very misleading about the man whos property was rezoned without him ever knowing about it. Smola gave the impression that even if the man ..lost...is lawsuit...he was gonna make amends! Gee...if he had that attitude all along...I wonder why the man is sueing? Do we look tha stupid?

I was disappointed in the turn out of the citizens of Tyrone. Either they have all made up their mind on who they are going to vote for or they are not planning on voting. It the latter is true then we are all in for another rude awakening. Tyrone could suffer like the last election. In regards to the forum, I felt that the issues discussed were important, but that there are alot more pressing issues Tyrone needs to address, but the select few are only focused on getting rid of Barry and Valerie. While this is a concern, we don't need to lose sight of other quality of life changes for Tyrone, i.e. sewer, development, infrastructure, growth, improving our roads, increasing our tax base and decreasing the property taxes, etc.

I agree - Why didn't anyone bring up the subject of the cemetery? I was going to submit a question about it but I figured that someone a little closer to the issue than me would have done so. I was disappointed that it was not discussed.

SO NOW I WILL TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ASK:

Candidates - Do you see the cemetery problem an important issue? If yes, why and if no, why??

Does anyone know who is buried there. If I knew I would be getting in touch with someone who knows the family or knew them or something. If something is not done to remedy this problem, then someone is eventually going to just build over the graves......how sad!

about the cemetery problem but thought it might not be an issue with everyone. I wanted to ask Mr Smola, "under what conditions a subdivsion is allowed to have an easement to 5 lots when the towns code states that all new subdivisons must have roads that are paved and guttered. Also, how, and why we didn't go by state laws concerning the cemetery, and more importantly, WHY was a subdivison with so many no nos like a cemetery, unpaived road, not to mention that monster power easment taking up a sizeable part of the lots, allowed to go forward without these issues going in front of the 1. planning committe and 2. the town council? Sounds like hanky panky to me.

I would love to have seen him squirm on that one! That was one of the ugliest things lately, among a ...long....long...list of things they have run rough shod over 'on his watch'! If you remember councilwomen Furr and Caldwell voted against it. I think everyone walked in that night thinking they were going to vote on who would be the chief until they could go through all the proper procedures to hire a new one. Little did they know the little gang had already picked one and knew they could outvote them and the rights of the public! I hope when we have a full house of good guys in Jan...THEY REVERSE THAT! I don't see any reason not to!

You are totally right!! I am not too close to the cemetary issue but if anyone could post who is buried there, I will get in touch with their families. Barry and Smola think they are above the law and that they do not have follow any guidelines! That is why....

Barry has been bulldozing people for almost 10 years. People are actually scared of him. What a great way to engender faith in government - FEAR. NO MORE FEAR IN TYORNE!! WE ARE COMING OUT OF THE WOODWORK - people are calling me with complaints against Barry that go back 8-9 years ago and they have been too afraid to say anything. That is so sad.

Oldbeachbear - you should submit the question to Smola on the forum free for all in the top right corner of the citizen webpage. I would love to hear his answer.........

Thank you for identifying that point. Sometimes you have to wonder about why people do not vote. More candidates need to get out and shake hands and talk about what is important to this town!
