Finally a General who speaks

The General in charge of the Marine Corps has suggested that the Marines should be allowed to leave Iraq and go to Afghanistan---leaving the Army in Afghanistan free to occupy Iraq.
I don't know if he got permission from the Secretary of Defense or the Joint Chiefs Chairman to do this or not---nor whether the President knew of it.
It really doesn't matter if it was his idea.
The only kind of orders Eisenhower ever got from Roosevelt and Truman concerned where other countries were to be involved, other than the enemy, or budgetary items. He couldn't invade Russia as Patton wanted to do, we needed them to help with Japan (we thought) and that we must share Germany with the Russians and the French.
Most Generals of today get their dispatches every day.
Marines are not occupiers and aren't trained or equipped to be occupiers: the Army is.
Marines will face almost certain death if they know they can leave soon after the fight. It is their way! I don't think they would have fought the Japanese for five years on the Pacific Islands.

Just to clarify, Germany was occupied by the Soviet Union (not Russia), Britain, France, and the United States.

Today, they are Russia, and tomorrow they again will be about the same union that they were then. They are working on it! Reagan's great heritage will fall, I'm afraid. They have oil money now that we have driven up the price. Some things are more important than how well someone delivers a speech! Even Bush knows that!

$ seems to be having quite the conversation with himself. It was a long trip down here yesterday having to bypass wrecks and such. The buses were late getting here and all was delayed. Hopefully things will go better today......

General Sanchez & other today things

His criticism today of Bush's White House running the war badly, comes a little late for him, he is retired, but he tells the truth.
Abu Ghraib cost him a fourth star and he didn't authorize the torture! I'd be P..... too.
Also today A fan in UGA territory wrote a column about UGAs coach. He has a lifetime ticket on the 50 yard line, but wants only winners. He say Richt is a fine gentleman, etc., but has no inspiration. Wants the coach to turn over his NIKE money etc., to Athletic Association, and get paid by winning only. Maybe graduate at least one football player per year. Seems that is important to him. Also, it is OK for Vanderbilt or Oklahoma Women's College to beat UGA, but not Tennessee or any Florida team. They will never get the stench of Dooley out of that research University!
Limbaugh today also will have a ball with Gore and his Nobel Prize. I want to believe Limbaugh: I think also it freezes for 10,000 years and then heats up for 10,000 years, and Industry is not polluting the air. Besides China does it! And we will soon see population decreases!

Although General Sanchez was "retired" unpromoted, and may be disgruntled now, he did at least say what is the truth today about Iraq.
In a few words, he said the White House tried to run the war and failed, and are still failing!
Only wish he had said it before he got fired.
