Locals players on the gridiron

• Ryan Barr, a Starr’s Mill gradaute, got some playing time for Bloomsburg University in their 48-14 win over Cheyney.

• Larry Beard, a Sandy Creek graduate, had a tackle and two assists for Georgia Southern in their 24-7 loss to Appalachian State.

• Brian Brown, a Sandy Creek graduate, had some playing time for the University of Delaware in their 20-10 loss to Richmond.

• Chis Capps, a Landmark Christian graduate at the University of Alabama, got some playing time in their 13-10 win over Ole Miss.

• Charles Castleberry, a McIntosh graduate, got some playing time in the University of Minnesota, Crookston’s 40-14 loss to Benidji State.

• John Deraney, a Fayette County graduate, kicked a 25 yard field goal and an extra point for NC State in their 31-10 loss to Clemson. He also had four punts for 159 yards.

• Jason Earwood, a Starr’s Mill graduate, had one assist, for Georgia Southern in their 24-7 loss to Appalachian State.

• Johnny Edwards, a Starr’s Mill graduate, had some playing time in Wake Forest’s 35-30 loss to Boston College.

• Joshua Haney, a Sandy Creek graduate, got some playing time for The Citadel in their 39-31 loss to Furman.

• Andrew Gardner, a Sandy Creek graduate, started at left tackle for Georgia Tech in their 35-10 win over Duke.

• Ryan Gloer, a Starr’s Mill graduate, had 16 tackles and one and a half sacks in Shorter College’s 21-20 loss to the University of the Cumberlands.

• Kedric Golston, a Sandy Creek graduate, had one tackle for the University of Georgia in their 34-17 win over Vanderbilt.

• Chris James, a Starr’s Mill graduate, kicked three field goals and three extra points for Western kentucky in their 37-28 win over Missouri State.

• Calvin Johnson, a Sandy Creek graduate, had four catches for 73 yards for Georgia Tech in their 35-10 win over Duke.

• Neil Sebastian, a Starr’s Mill graduate, US Merchant Marine Academy got some playing time in the team’s 27-9 loss to Hobart.

• Riley Swanson, a Sandy Creek graduate, had five tackles, one assist, one tackle for a loss, one pass break-up and one interception returned for seven yards in Wake Forest’s 35-30 loss to Boston College.

Carson Bird, a Northgate Graduate and Sophmore CB at the Air Force Academy, helped the Falcon's defense hold the Rebels to 7 points and only 2 yards rushing. He had 5 tackles, including a sweet hard hit one of the Rebel recievers. The Falcons won 42-7.
