You got to Love Comcast

Cyclist's picture

Got home and turn on the tele and........nothing. Tried the other TVs in the house, same result. Then I remembered that the next door neighbor had a cable strung across their yard. So went out and sure enough the neighbor's cable was buried. So it appears that my cable was cut when they buried my neighbor's cable. The lady at Comcast said that of course they'll take care of it when they can get out - tomorrow afternoon.

So let me ponder this since I can't watch Judge Judy. Comcast is going to comp me two days for lost service. They'll send a tech out to investigate and he will lay a new line accross my yard. Comcast's contractor will come out to bury my new line and hopefully not cut my neighbor's in the process.

So now I ask who pays for this? I hope all you Comcast subscribers all ready know the answer.

Oh darn, it just dawned on me – I have to tell the wife!!!!!

I think I've discussed here before how Comcast is definitely NOT my favorite corporation. They are slime. They've flat-out LIED to me on numerous occasions, and they're con artists. I don't see how they stay in business.
I actually had a Comcast tech intentionally cut my cable line because he was dispatched on a Saturday and didn't want to take the time to fix it. He was the only one that crawled all the way up under my house, and when he came out he told me the line was cut and he couldn't do anything else to fix it that day. Niiiice. I had to get someone I know who is certified to repair those lines come out. He had it fixed in ten minutes.
They're idiots.
Unfortunately, I can't get satellite where I'm located.

Yeah, that's good customer service. They'll have one less customer soon. You must have a lot tress around the house to not have a satellite signal. BTW, I asked the tech that came and restrung my new cable if my experience - cutting an old line when burying a new one - is common. He said very much so.

however, at the end of the year when they tally the totals and the profit margin is not there - because of stupid things like this - guess what happens to subscriber rates.

I've got more channels than my wife, kids and I could ever watch.

I'm on the DISH 120 package with four receivers, two of them are 100 hour DVR's and my monthly bill is around $75.00/mth.

They offer more sports than you could possibly watch and you can freeze live TV for up to an hour for that all important break, beer that is.

And a good part of it is HDTV.

I tried Comlast for about 24 hours. Called them to come and get it the next day before I left it out in the rain.

I think I'll be switching soon. My Comcast bill is $65 with only one TV with a slightly premium digital service. The other 4 TVs are regular cable service. Are there any bad picture days due to weather and such?

I can't complain. What has happened normally is if I lose the satellite, I lose the house power as well.

As far a picture quality, it's either great or not working. There is no in between.

Many Many Thanks!!!! I checked ATT and they have a TV package for 4 sets at $59 with DVR and 185 channels. Looks like I'll go to satellite and tell Comcr@p where they can stick their cable. Have a virtual beer on me!!!!!

Cable (Wometco), Dish, cable again (Comcrap), and now DirectTV. So far, DirectTV has been fine. We have lost the signal for a few minutes during really bad weather, but overall we've been mostly satified. Dish was alright, but we had numerous equipment failures, and the signal was weak, even after the dishes (we had two) were checked for alignment. Still, it was way better than cable.

I too have Direct Tv. I agree with everything you said. Much better than Comcr@p.
