Columnist Walter Williams insults blacks

Tue, 09/25/2007 - 3:16pm
By: Letters to the ...

I was amused by Walter Williams’ recent column where he criticized Hillary Clinton for “mimicking black voice” when she included the line, “I don’t feel noways tired,” in a speech she gave to the First Baptist Church of Selma, Ala.

I realize Mr. Williams has spent his whole life running away from his African-American heritage as part of his lifelong quest to curry favor with his conservative masters, but I am nonetheless a bit surprised he didn’t realize that Sen. Clinton was quoting directly from the Rev. James Cleveland’s song of the same name.

I believe the title of Williams’ column “Insulting blacks,” was particularly apt in this case, except that it was Walter Williams, not Sen. Clinton, who was doing the insulting.

Just what do you mean by "running away from his African-American heritage"?

Exactly what "heritage" would that be? Slavery and paganism?

I'm certainly not his "master" (how insulting you are), but it sounds like you'd want to be so that you could him make think as you do, or at least stop be so successful. He decided not to stay on the Democrat Plantation. Feeling envious, are you? Eye-wink

What a crock -- typical Lib-stain Moonbat, saying a successful, intelligent, articulate Black Man like WEW has been "running away from his . . . heritage". I suppose that's what Bill Cosby is doing with his lectures! Only Shrillery could get away with such blatant pandering by falling into her phony accent and not have the likes of The Just-Us Brothers or those racists Andrew Young and Joe Lowery call her on it. Mr. Williams was right on, as usual, and you're . . . not.

When Bill OReilly was "shocked" that blacks in a black owned restaraunt were not MFing and carrying on like he obviously expected? How outraged were you all of the times Rush Limbaugh made fun of the way Maxine Waters and Cynthia McKinney talked? How is it that your outrage only appears when the names Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, Al Sharpton, or Jessie Jackson are used? I find this phenomenon to be quite curious. I also, speaking as a black man, found WEW's outrage at Hillary's quote to be quite odd; especially relating to his silence on the above two conservative commentators over the years. I sense that Mr. Williams tried to score points on a story that in all actuality was not a story. Oh if he could have found something slightly more interesting to write about. But, as a successful and articulate columnist who will always have legions of yes men and women, he obviously didn't need actual subject matter. That is for lessor writers I guess.

What really shocks me is that you don't want the truth about O'Reilly's comments. While I'm no big fan of his -- he's too moderate for me Laughing out loud -- he doesn't deserve the media smear job. Media Matters has ZERO credibility.

If you really wanted the truth, you could have found it.

"What Bill O'Reilly Really Told Me" by JUAN WILLIAMS (9/28/07)

I haven't seen your outrage over Juan's being called a "happy negro."

What about being "authentically black only if [blacks] imitate the violent, threatening attitude of the rappers and use the gutter language coming from the minstrels on TV"?

(From what I've been told, "MF" is quite prevalent in "black culture." Teachers complain about such language frequently.)

"The lesson from the rappers and comedians is that any young brother or sister who is proud to be black has to treat education with indifference, dismiss love and marriage as the business of white people and dress like the rappers who dress like prisoners — no comb in the jail so they wear doo-rags all day, and no belts so their pants hang down around their butts."

What about calling "anyone who calls attention to the excesses of hip-hop culture a 'self-hating' black man and skewering anyone who dares to say there is a crisis in black America because of the high dropout rates, high crime rates and high out-of-wedlock birth rates. That is what happened to another well-known Bill, Bill Cosby, after he spoke out about the self-destructive images and behavior in the black community."

"They want anyone who dares to speak publicly about problems in black America to fear being called a racist, if they are white, or a 'Happy Negro' if they are black. They want silence so they can continue to make money [Jesse Jackson & Al Sharpton's specialty] by distorting black life and allowing black on black murder rates to climb along with the black dropout rate and the black poverty rate."

In my opinion, Bill Oreilly has done about as much damage to the American civility as has the Rappers.
He does use correct language to appear intelligent.
He frames all democrats in the fashion he wishes---totally one-sided! Just as do some democrats of the republicans.
His guests are lap-dogs or democrats he can brow-beat, or shout down or cut off their microphone.
He defends all idiots, like Coulter and Limbaugh.
He is making lots of money since large corporations who pay him, like the Republicans!

Walter Williams is great . . . except when he's talking about "gifts" for his wife. I think that, if he gave me a snow shovel, I'd be tempted to use it, and not for snow. Eye-wink

I love your hat. Of course you know he just does that to set everyone back, right? I'd love to see them together, I'll bet he's all "Yes Dear", "Right away Dear" . . .

Bob,

Hillary "I'm a lifelong Yankees Fan" made a laughing stock of herself with that speech. She is nothing but a manipulative panderer, and she will do and say anything in order to get voted into office. Interesting how you compare the distinguished Mr. Williams to a slave - now THAT'S insulting.

Do you think Rudy Giuliani (anti NRA now pro NRA and back and forth on amnesty and abortion) will pander? He IS your front-runner, and he is Mr. $9 and .11 cents for my fundraiser as well (pandering?)

Will Mitt varmint-gun Romni pander to voters as he un Mass. liberals himself from all of his past votes and actions and statements? Is this "pandering" not a bi-partisan principle? Even the president says we have to support his way of fighting global terrorism because "our children's lives" depend on us following his recipe. Pandering? you think?

To think of the deep and meaningful friendship I am missing out on just makes me hate myself. There is so much you could have taught me as a person, if I had only openned the door and quietly accepted all of your arguments and opinions. Alas, I'll be left to contimplate how to go on day to day without your friendship and companionship. As I only have another 9 hours left in south america, I'd best start washing my sorrows away with cheap alcohol while I still have the chance. And Beaver, I'll still toast to you. Cause that's just how I am.

Good points about Billary and Mr. Williams.

To hear Shrillary's horrible Southern speech imitation, go here for AUDIO.

"I grew up in a black church and visited numerous black churches all my life, and I’ve never heard a choir sing that song the way Hillary drawled it. However, whether she was quoting a song or not, it doesn’t change the fact that she sounded like a pandering idiot."

She was just trying to be one of the COMMON folks!

I wonder which term "Stupid, ignorant or biased" (Mr. Williams' latest column) rang a bell with Jensen? Eye-wink

I tend to think that alcohol is just crap. Look at how many people are dying because of it, or how many families it took apart... no seriously it's time to go to narconon if you have problems.
