Columnist Walter Williams insults blacksTue, 09/25/2007 - 3:16pm

I was amused by Walter Williams’ recent column where he criticized Hillary Clinton for “mimicking black voice” when she included the line, “I don’t feel noways tired,” in a speech she gave to the First Baptist Church of Selma, Ala. I realize Mr. Williams has spent his whole life running away from his African-American heritage as part of his lifelong quest to curry favor with his conservative masters, but I am nonetheless a bit surprised he didn’t realize that Sen. Clinton was quoting directly from the Rev. James Cleveland’s song of the same name. I believe the title of Williams’ column “Insulting blacks,” was particularly apt in this case, except that it was Walter Williams, not Sen. Clinton, who was doing the insulting.
