Peachtree City police have filed robbery and battery charges on a 14-year-old who is accused of assaulting two teens near the Glenloch Recreation Center Sept. 12.

The 14-year-old, who is not being named because he is a juvenile, is accused of punching one of the victims in the head and grabbing another one of the victims, police said.

The suspect was part of a group of teens who approached the three victims as they were walking home, and one of the teens in the group demanded that the victims “empty their pockets,” police said.

After they complied, the victims were eventually allowed to leave, police said.

Officers did not know the teen’s identity at first but were able to identify him after speaking with several witnesses, police said.

The suspect does live in Peachtree City, police confirmed.

This incident is typical for this area after school lets out. Peachtree City should enforce the quality of life violations MORE in the areas of high crime than in nicer neighborhoods. For instance, the vandalism under the bridge by the McDonald's, gang signs, "G-lock on deck". While the police are busy with the high call volume in the area and can't deal with the vandalism, public works should be painting over the graffiti every day it reappears, stay ahead of them and beat them at their own game. This may sound like a waste of time but look at what this theory did for New York in the 90's “Fixing broken windows”. Leaving the vandals work signals a surrender to them, it emboldens them.

If the city doesn't want to take care of it, Mr. Mayor, let us know what kind of paint to buy, we'll take care of it.

. . will buy the paint and start painting! This is one way to send a message to the gang who has taken over the golf paths. Don't wait for the bureaucrats . . .they're always a dollar short and a day late!

From the mayors office, to the police dept., to the worthless parents, they don't care. It isn't just that portion of the cart path either. Every part of the cart path is a thug zone drug zone from 4:30-7:00 every night after school. In the summer from 4:30-10:30pm is bad.

At least this time they just hurt each other. I'm good with that, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

You hit the nail on the head - "worthless parents".

Not surprising, I drive by this location every day on my way home from work.

There are a lot of low cost rental houses across the street from the Recreation Center.

Place is starting to look like Riverdale.

Lot’s of thugs walking around not attending school and hanging around the Recreation Center.

They will walk out into the middle of the road and dare you to hit them.

Lack of supervision by their parents or the parents just don’t care.
