Tyrone Does Not Issue Business Licenses

To Tyrone Business Owners - Did you know that Tyrone does not issue business licenses but instead imposes an occupation tax on a business?? This does not make any sense to me. Does anyone know anything about it??

"Tyrone Town Manager has done it again, acting wihtout authority of law, he misrepresents an occupational tax as a business license. Tyrone does not issue business licenses, even though they do issue business licenses they misrepresent the occuaptional tax as a business licenses. What is up with this? Another gross misrepresentation to the Tyrone public who relies on the representations of Tyrone's officials."

I read the comment and then got up, went to the front wall of my office, and read the piece of paper that Tyrone sends me each year. It clearly states on it that it is a business license. When I moved the business into Tyrone, I also checked with the county and they said that if I had the Tyrone license that I didn't need a county license. So it seems even the county believes that Tyrone issues business licenses.

Folks, let try to deal responsibly with the big issues for our town and not rumor monger about every little thing.

Listen up - this is not a rumor. The attorney for Tyrone has stated in open record documents that Tyrone does not issue business licenses. I don't think there is a more "responsible" source for this information than the town's own attorney - do you? Go up to the town hall and ask to get a business license and see what they say now.
