Why should PTC give in to Kohl’s developer, Wieland?

Why should we care what John Wieland says he wants for Peachtree City? He does not live here, only makes big bucks and moves on to another tract to start all over again. He does not have to see his community ruined as we do. Overcrowded schools, traffic congestion, inflated property taxes, etc.

The same goes for the builders of the proposed Kohl’s shopping center. Why should we give, sell or swap him any land? Bullies threaten as their spokesman has done by threatening to sell out to a Hooter’s, Pep Boys, etc.

Let’s call his bluff and deal with the results as they come. Why do we capitulate to these builders? When will our elected officials (with the exception of Plunkett and Kourajian) get some backbone and start looking out for the residents and not the builder?

Or, are there reasons we do not know about? And why does our mayor, who is supposed to be so savvy, continually say that he was not aware of the various things occurring, such as the Kroger/Goodwill deal?

It took the citizens of Peachtree City contacting Kroger directly and telling them that we would boycott their remaining stores to squelch that deal.

Where was our mayor? I would appreciate our esteemed mayor telling us via your newspaper just what he has done/accomplished that was for the betterment of Peachtree City while he has been in office, since he has never answered any emails sent to him.

Last time I checked, John Weiland was still employing hundreds of people whom live in our community and all over Atlanta. He has been doing this for lots of years. He must be doing something right. His employees earn pay checks and this usually results in happieness, having a home, sending kids to school, and otherwise living the American dream. He is able to do this because he works hard and hence makes big bucks. I guess I am missing something here. Oh, the mayor answers my emails so I think that for some reason he has chosen to ignore yours Cookie. I can't understand why.

First of all he employs people who are here perhaps(?) illegally(?).

Secondly he is the only developer I know of who has such a bad reputation, that handymen, and re-modle repairmen LOVE. Not just like, they love him, because he has made them millionaires.

One of his subdivisions was nicknamed "leakmont", because all of the roofs leaked. In another subdivison the windows leak. He jacked those people around until the home was out of warranty.

Thirdly, we don't have any water for the people who are already here. We don't need anymore gratuitous cluster homes by railroad tracks.
