The Starr’s Mill Lady Panthers volleyball team and the Sandy Creek Lady Patriots played in the Lovett Block Party over the weekend
Starr’s Mill got wins over Vestavia Hills (25-20, 25-18), Sandy Creek (25-23, 25-21), Marietta (25-10, 25-21), Eagle’s Landing Christian (25-15, 25-7) and McGill Toolen (29-27, 25-20). The Lady Panthers lost to St. Paul’s (25-20, 25-21).

The Lady Panthers (28-2) tied for third in the Gold Bracket.

“It was an extremely competitive tournament,” said Dottie Licciardi. “I was glad to compete against three great out-of-state teams.”
In addition to their loss to Starr’s Mill, Sandy Creek (17-7) fell to Lovett (25-19, 29-27) and Marist (25-19, 25-19). Creek defeated Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy (25-11, 25-19), Marietta (25-16, 26-24), Bluffton, SC (22-15, 25-17, 15-12), and Woodward Academy (25-23, 25-18).

McIntosh (20-4) went 6-1 over the weekend, defeating North Gwinett (25-20, 25-15), Grayson (25-10, 26-24), Monroe Area (25-13, 25-9), North Forsyth (25-12, 25-18), Roswell (25-13, 25-18) and Blessed Trinity (18-25, 25-19, 15-25, 25-22, 15-12).

Landmark Christian went 3-2 over the weekend, losing to St. Pauls, Ala. (25-20, 25-9) and Wesleyan (25-10, 25-9) and defeating Norcross (25-18, 23-25, 14-16), Athens Academy (25-10, 25-14), and Columbus (25-27, 25-17, 13-15).

Landmark (10-11) will host Sandy Creek and Fayette County tomorrow. Games start at 5 p.m.
In themost recent poll from GaSports.com and the Goegia Athletic Coaches Association, Landmark Christian is ranked eighth in Class AA/A., while Sandy Creek is ranked third in Class AAA.
In Class AAAA, Starr’s Mill is ranked first and McIntosh is ranked second. Whitewater is ranked 10th.

The Lady Chiefs and Whitewater met last night and McIntosh will take on Starr’s Mill next Tuesday at Starr’s Mill at 5 p.m.
