Football predictions

Kevin Wandra's picture

There are some big football games being played this weekend. Tonight, the Whitewater-Fayette County and Starr's Mill-Creekside games will draw the most local interest. Tomorrow, Florida-Tennessee, Georgia Tech-Boston College and USC-Nebraska all should be interesting. Then Sunday, two of the best teams in the NFL, the New England Patriots and San Diego Chargers, face each other in what should be the most exciting game of the weekend.

Anybody want to step up and make some predictions?

Tug,

You are fast posting the score!!!! Smiling

It was a come-from-behind win - sweet! The Tigers just kept going for it. Michael Boylan was on the sidelines so his report should be quite interesting, can't wait to watch his podcast.

Awesome game, I didn't figure the kickoff return for a TD, once the Tigers got tired and didn't try so hard, everything clicked. Did you notice how after the game no one was leaving the stands. TOMMY WEBB is my new HERO, I loved how he went for the TD and didn't go for the tie and overtime.

The only thing that tempers my rubbing this in your face is the disapointment of the Wildcat football team who really played a good game, but lost to a better team this year. So, here goes, NA NA NA NA NA, in your face. I guess we won't see you for a couple weeks untill ya'll win again.

Well, speaking as a Wildcat, congratulations to FCHS on their win, and also congratulations to McIntosh on gaining a lot more respectability than they had last year, even though they lost last night.

I hope we don't repeat the ugliness that was on this website last year, when Whitewater beat Starrs Mill at the last second. That was a great game, although Starrs Mill admittedly had the better team overall. This year, let's remember to wish ALL our Fayette county teams good luck.

Funny how we never heard a word from you people when onlyrealcat was on here flapping his or her gums about Whitewater this or that. Most of the unpleasentness seems to come from you people, so second that.

I can tell you that we do not speak for "onlyrealcat".

And you say "Most of the unpleasantness seems to come from you people".
Why don't review some of your posts, such as "I got your hypocrites hanging". What a pity, you can't win with class.

You're the one fired the first shot bubba, calling me a hypocrite because I called Webb my hero, you got the same class you dealt out, live with it. I would have got on realcat harder but I know the kids don't have anything to do with that, if you attack be prepared to be attacked.

what a bunch of hypocrites, where have you been the last few years? Can we say Fayette County bandwagon? You were ready to fire Tommy Webb every season and now he's your hero? You must be suffering from winning deprivation!

About the game, congrats to the Tigers on a well deserved win, although i was pulling for my WCats, WIN or Lose, always my WCats. Matt Daniels and Boykon are talented indeed and Martinez has a good leg on him. FCHS gained more from this victory than WHS would have, I'm happy to see the Tigers doing well, I followed them before my kids were of high school age.

As far as my WCats are concerned, they probably will not win another game this year. There is no offense, although the defense is very good.

Continued success Tigers!

I have known Tommy Webb and his wife for over 15 years, and when calls for his dismissal hit this paper I didn't know about this online stuff here and sent my defense of him in a signed letter to the editor, so I got your hypocrites hanging. The man has class and I'm proud to consider him a friend.

If that's the case, my apologies to the band parents. I'm one of those who would go to the Tigers games to listen to the band at halftime, not the game! My comments are directed to some of those football parents, who are only a handful, that seem to forget past history!

you really expect the people who called for his firing to change sides just because he's won some games, most of those people were the one's with little darlings that didn't get to play like mom and dad said they should, you won't see them eating crow, they're off sulking somewhere.

You're right about that hutch, most of the time that is the case. It's rewarding to see that Tommy hung in here despite what certain group of parents was trying to do. There is no doubt all the athletes work their tails off and those deserving should reap the benefits.

I don't know of any football parents "that seem to forget past history." Between the players and their parents in the stands (usually the Dads), most can tell you the FCHS football record for the last 10 years - so I'm not sure what's your point.

I appreciate the competitiveness between the players of opposing teams who know, are friends with, have played with or against each other, in previous years. That element always adds to the excitement, and that's why I think the rivalry is so strong between FCHS & WHS.

I didn't include the previous years' records because WHS didn't play regional games until last year.

I think it's great you've been a fan of FCHS a lot longer than I have (I didn't grow up in GA), and if you went to the games just to watch the band, then I take it you are, or were, a band parent. It's all good no matter where the support comes from - band, football, community, etc.

WHS is just like all the other football programs that go through winning seasons and losing seasons, that's the nature of the sport; hence, the proverbial bandwagons will reflect those seasons, too. I wish WHS a good season, along with all other Fayette County schools, because that only reflects positively about our school system as a whole.

Have a great afternoon Smiling

Just so you know, I've been an FCHS Tiger football parent for the last FOUR years. For this group of parents who have sat in the bleachers during each game for these four years our sons have given their all, these victories are extremely sweet. Never will I claim Webb is my hero, as I truly believe the difference in this year's success over the last four years (that Webb's been at FCHS) begins with this group of Senior players. I've watched them since they played in middle school, with a lot of this year's WHS seniors, and these players have a bond. They work together, pull each other up when needed, and if deserved, will knock someone off their pedestal, too. It's called teamwork, and it comes from within each player. Some years teams just don't have it, but when they do, it makes a huge difference. I also see this is setting an example for the underclassmen, who are also known for working very well together.

If the season ends with only three wins, it will still be an improvement over the last three years' records. Change begins with baby steps.

As for your 'dish of bitter' you served here, it's unwarranted. Some people posting here are band parents who have sat through the same games, but don't know the personalities and attitudes involved within the football program.

Saying "pulling for my WCats, WIN or lose, always my WCats" is very easy right now, but wait until "your WCats" go through an extended losing streak, then you should see your bandwagon gain a lot of empty space on it. It's easy to be a die-hard fan for your two winning seasons.

WHS Class of '07, four winning seasons, not two.
And for your information, no bandwagon fan here, "pulling for my WCats, WIN or lose, always my WCats".

You are correct on the teamwork comment, if you read my post I was very complimentary of the players, I have followed FCHS football longer than the four years you have.

Unless there are a ton of turnovers on what could be a sloppy field.
