PTC arrest man for child exploitation

A cruise ship waiter has become the 21st person arrested by Peachtree City police in an undercover sting targeted at people who use computers to prey on children, police said.

Zoltan Ferencz, 27, of the Republic of Slovakia, was arrested Tuesday after he traveled to Peachtree City to meet with an undercover officer whom he thought was a 14-year-old girl.

The Peachtree City investigation was conducted with help from the Douglasville Police Department and the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, police said.

Police said Ferencz is charged with one count of violation of the computer pornography and child exploitation act.

Ferencz, who is currently in the U.S. on a tourist visa, is employed as a waiter on Princess Cruise Lines where he has worked for the past five years, police said.

Although 21 people have so far faced charges in the undercover sting since May 2004, not all of them have been brazen enough to come to Peachtree City to meet up with the "girl" they think is 14. Some, however, have shared pornographic images with the undercover detective via instant messaging or e-mail.

Peachtree City Police Chief James Murray encourages parents to insure their children only access the home computer in places where their activity can be observed. Parents can take advantage of special software that can provide copies of e-mail, instant messaging and other correspondence on-line.

we are from the same town as zoltan does...we know him for a long time..
dont judge him...he was a victim of a big,unfair conspiracy.
People who know him are shocked of this cause.
we can totally assure you all,that he is definitely not a pedophile.

Can you explain this big conspiracy? He came here to have sex with a little girl, as the father of a girl in this county I would be glad to turn him loose with just a little too much anchor chain to swim with.

Fayette County Law Enforcement

Again - commendations to outstanding police work! This operation has received national recognition.

I had the opportunity to witness a 'pull over' by an officer of Fayette County law enforcement. (I'm not sure what department it was - but the cars were 'black and white'.) I could not hear what was being said and I did not know the reason for the stop. The scene looked like a textbook stop by a well-trained officer. Another officer pulled up - and the person in the car remained in the car while the officers communicated behind the car. I did not see the end result of this stop - but - felt secure that the law enforcement in Fayette County handles themselves in a professional manner that protects citizens and law enforcement personnel.

The black and white cars are Fayetteville. They are switching over to black cars, so you will see both in the city.
PTC Police do all the initial work in the sex stings.
Fayette County Sheriff/Deputies only has a stellar reputation among the good ole' boys. They are quite an entity unto themselves and openly dislike 'outside interference'. I have worked closely with Fayetteville and PTC police on certain issues and have called the Sheriff's department to work with them as well and they practically laughed at me (a mere citizen). I haven't given up on them, but was very disappointed at their attitude. As 'police', i.e. being pulled over, I've never encountered any of our fine officers, but suspect they are like all other people - Some are excellent, most do the best they can, and some screw it up for everyone else.
