‘Ban Coulter’ letter got expected responseTue, 09/11/2007 - 3:10pm
By: Letters to the ...
I was pleased to observe the reaction that was stimulated as a result of my appeal to this paper regarding Ann Coulter’s “contributions.” I’m surprised it wasn’t greater, considering this county. Apparently I hurt some people’s feelings picking on poor little innocent Ann. And for those that accused me of her same tactics, thanks for recognizing her style. Isn’t real nice, is it? And I didn’t even mention widows or cancer patients in my comments. I am really flattered. though. I don’t believe I’m even remotely in her league. Haven’t gotten that bitter or cynical yet. I also want to apologize for an improper assumption I made. There obviously are readers out there that appreciate her. Or at least about a dozen of you. I assume the rest agree with me? I’m glad someone asked for examples. Obviously you don’t watch anything but Fox News. There are plenty of “incidents” and, by the way, I forgot to include plagiarism (see comments regarding her recent book). But if you’re really interested I’d be glad to elaborate as long as Mr. Beverly has the room. It will take a while to list them all (and the list grows) and I do have them. I believe in free speech as well as anyone; however, there is such a thing as opportunism, and in this case irresponsibility. All of which are very well documented in her case. But I suppose Hitler started that way (oops, there I go sounding like her again). And for those that apparently haven’t followed her “career,” she had been fired from her original media employer, MSNBC, and banned from a number of other outlets (except for Fox of course). Her column has already been dropped by about 20 other papers to date and the number is growing every time she sticks her foot in her mouth. I still hope that this publication will consider my original appeal. It’s not like people can ban this paper from being tossed at the bottom of their driveways, so there is no threat of loss of readership. I do agree with one of the comments that if left to her own devices she’ll eventually go really too far and this issue will take care of itself. And by the way, for those that want to know the difference between my comments and Ann’s, I don’t get paid for my opinions. P.S. By the way, guess whom she’s laughing at all the way to the bank?
