Ban Coulter from paper

By: Letters to the ...

I can no longer tolerate the fact that you continue to give that excuse for an editorial contributor, Ann Coulter, an outlet in your paper.

She does not write any legitimate opinion, just jaded, half-witted, hate-mongering diatribes that are often based on half-truths, inaccurate accounts, or outright fabrications.

She does not represent the true conservative sprit or opinion and taints the credibility of legitimate conservatives by claiming she does.

She is the epitome of sensationalist journalism and panders to the lowest common denominator.

I do not believe the majority of your readers to be that unintelligent or low in their morals or thinking to agree with her no matter how conservative they may be.

Please join many other papers in discrediting this woman’s legitimacy and limiting her outlets. Then maybe she’ll crawl back under whatever rock she came out from.

Did Ann write that for you?

She is the epitome of sensationalist journalism and panders to the lowest common denominator.

Wow... sound like something Ann would write.

I do not believe the majority of your readers to be that unintelligent or low in their morals or thinking to agree with her no matter how conservative they may be.

And you claim that Ann writes half-witted, hate-mongering diatribes? Puzzled

Please join many other papers in discrediting this woman’s legitimacy and limiting her outlets.

So you desire to ban Ban Ann for the same type of language you choose to use? So, are we to assume that it's ok for you to talk that way, but it's not ok for Ann to do so? Puzzled

Then maybe she’ll crawl back under whatever rock she came out from. Gee Greg? Are we to assume that you will live by your own standards and slither back under the rock to which you came? Eye-wink

A LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Dear Cal & Company,

Please ban Mr. Greg Johnson of Peachtree City, Ga from this day out. I can no longer tolerate the fact that you continue to give that excuse for a blogger, Greg Johnson, an outlet in your paper. I find his half-witted, hate-mongering diatribes offensive. The Citizen is no place for his sensationalist blogs and liberal pandering to the lowest common denominators. I do not believe the majority of you readers to be that unintelligent of low in their morals or thinking to agree with Greg no matter how liberal they may be. Please join many other bloggers in discrediting this clown's legitimacy and limiting his opinions. Then maybe he'll crawl back under whatever rock he came out from.

Thanks in advance,

Git

Your sense of humor is likely to get YOU banned. Laughing out loud

Now that would be intolerable. Smiling

“She does not write any legitimate opinion, just jaded, half-witted, hate-mongering diatribes that are often based on half-truths, inaccurate accounts, or outright fabrications.”

Might you have just one example, Greg? If all you have is mud-slinging you need to step aside and leave that to the resident expert – Hack.

“Last week, congressional Democrats vowed to investigate Attorney General Alberto Gonzales’ firing of himself.”

That’s funny stuff; until you realize it’s true.

How about mine?

I think people who can't decide on their own what to read or not should be banned from getting ANY newspapers. Does that sound about right?

I can assure you that I'm not of "the lowest common denominator." I don't associate with those who live under rocks either. Are you a lawyer or just an ACLU contributor? Laughing out loud

Ann's columns express her conservative views, something that "moderate" lukewarm Republicans find disconcerting. She's witty and quite logical, too.

When you mention "limiting her outlets," you sound like a liberal. I'd guess that you'd like to charge her with a hate crime, too. Do you listen to talk radio? I doubt that you can "tolerate" that either. Puzzled

Read the comics and the sports section and not Ann's column. There, that's a simple solution.

From an intelligent and quite moral fan!

Keep her in the paper or not as you see fit Cal. We all get her free online anyway. The reason liberal weenies don't like her is that she gets right to the point about liberal hypocricy and uses some of the same demonizing techniques liberals use (pro-choice, my foot - it is pro-abortion aka baby killing).

Coulter goes over the top sometimes to make a point with humour, sort of like Michael Moore and Al Gore - although they arn't trying to be funny - she is.

First, Robert: If you see a liberal weenie I encourage you to bite it. Your brand of un hypocritical conservativism seems to enjoy that. I like the way Ann points out the hypocrisy of gay, perverted, adulterous, dishonest conservatives who, like her, call people "fa@@ots" while wearing crosses around their necks and quoting Jesus. She even has Jerry Lewis thinking this is somehow appropriate.

My dearest Denise. It is a hollow and frail argument to call anyone who disagrees with you a liberal. I believe you may ignore the very large number of conservatives who are disturbed by Ann's hate speech, but that does not marginalize them at all. Denise, I believe you will argue that the sun circles the earth if Ann says it is so. That is absolutely why I look at you and Robert as signature members of the Conservative Flat Earth Society. Yes, up is down and down is up. And anyone who disagrees cannot possibly be a "true conservative." Denise, you know I love you, but we aren't laughing WITH you anymore. We are laughing AT you. I just have to be honest leibshen,

Kevin "Hack" King

And she makes you mad or else you wouldn't respond to her columns! Laughing out loud

Now you realize why so many conservatives like her -- she's effective! Laughing out loud

Calling me "dearest" and "Liebchen" (sweetheart? -- notice the correct spelling Eye-wink ) and then saying that you are "laughing AT" me (while saying, "You know I love you") was just . . . cruel.

You made me cry. Tears are running down my face. Sad

Tears from laughing so hard! Laughing out loud

My arguments, "hollow and frail"????? You must have me confused with another "Liebchen"!

If you'll re-read my post, I said, "You sound like a liberal." That's a simile (a figure of speech, a comparison). It was a bit of sarcasm in an attempt to get Mr. Johnson to THINK.

Where's the TOLERANCE, that virtue of virtues, that I hear liberals speak so much about?

Do I "call anyone who disagrees with [me] a liberal"? Do I? Puzzled

Are you a liberal, Hack?

Go here to find out.

Instead of identifying someone as a liberal, should I say, "Looney Leftist" or "Lying Liberal" (Is that redundant? Puzzled ) or "Moonbat"? Bedwetter seems crass (a "right to privacy" violation?). What would you prefer?

Wasn't it a liberal (JeffC) who called for banning Ann's column a few months ago? But he was MUCH more polite. Smiling

“Drop Ann Coulter”

He did follow with a retraction (but with not-so-nice name-calling: “debased,” “cruel,” “nihilists,” “incompetent and corrupt,” “lunatic fringe.”)

As far as Ann Coulter goes, let the FREE market decide. Her book Godless is excellent, I've been told.

That reminds me. Doesn't she have another book coming out soon? She's probably laughing all the way to the bank. Laughing out loud

Anyone who knows me (and that includes those who read my posts and THINK while doing so) will tell you that I usually question most ideas and try to find out for myself. I don't take Ann's word just because she says it. That would be too much like . . . a liberal!!!

"Flat Earth Society" -- Surely you can be more creative than that.

"Why a Flat Earth?"

Does the term "flat earther" (used to describe those who cling to discredited ideas, implying a lack of intelligence) qualify as "hate speech"? Puzzled

The implication is that people from earlier times were unintelligent, but this definitely is not the case. (The pyramids are a good example.)

Pythagoras (6th century B.C. "father of numbers," best known for the Pythagorean theorem) held that all the celestial bodies were spherical.

"Around 330 B.C., Aristotle provided observational evidence for the spherical earth, noting that travelers going south see southern constellations rise higher above the horizon. This is only possible if their horizon is at an angle to northerners' horizon. Thus the earth's surface cannot be flat. Also, the border of the shadow of earth on the moon during the partial phase of a lunar eclipse is always circular, no matter how high the moon is over the horizon. Only a sphere casts a circular shadow in every direction, whereas a circular disk casts an elliptical shadow in most directions."

Eratosthenes first determined the earth's circumference (the distance AROUND) about 250 years before the birth of Christ.

By the 1st century A.D., Pliny the Elder claimed that everyone agreed on the spherical shape of earth.

In the second century, the Alexandrian astronomer Ptolemy advanced many arguments for the spherical shape of the earth; his writings remained the basis of European astronomy throughout the Middle Ages.

Earliest Christian theology acknowledged the spherical shape of the earth, teaching that had become widespread by A.D. 300 and was supported by the dominant textbooks of the Early Middle Ages. In fact, the book of Isaiah (c. 700 B.C.) alludes to the earth being circular (Isaiah 40:22).

"A non-literary but graphic indication that people in the Middle Ages believed that the Earth was a sphere, is the use of the orb (globus cruciger) in the regalia of many kingdoms and of the Holy Roman Empire. It is attested from the time of the Christian late-Roman emperor Theodosius II (A.D. 423) throughout the Middle Ages."

Dante's Divine Comedy (early 1300s), one of the greatest works of world literature, is based on a spherical earth (the circles of hell and the spheres of heaven).

Columbus and other explorers did NOT believe that the earth was flat. In fact, few at the time of Columbus’s voyage, and virtually no sailors or navigators, believed this.

"The modern misconception that people of the Middle Ages believed that the earth was flat first entered the popular imagination in the nineteenth century, thanks largely to the publication of Washington Irving's fantasy The Life and Voyages of Christopher Columbus in 1828."

So, you see, anyone who propagates the error that there were believers in a flat earth in the last 2000+ years is to be laughed at. Laughing out loud

"I just have to be honest."

Now you have done it and crossed way over the line. Calling sweet Denise a leibshian and misspelling it is discraceful. Denise is a perfectly normal heterosexual conservative female. Just because someone disagrees with you it doesn't give you the right to call her names.

Back to my old picture, so I can say "I don't have a dog in this fight" with real feelings.
