Four teenage burglars captured by Tyrone police

The long arm of the law had quite a reach Wednesday as Tyrone Police and other agencies chased four males in a stolen car into Fulton County following a residential burglary at Southhampton subdivision.

Jeremy Allen, 18, and Kortez Milling, 17, both of College Park, were charged with burglary, said Tyrone Police spokesman Capt, Brandon Perkins.

The two male juveniles, ages 15 and 16, of Atlanta, were charged with burglary and giving a false name and date of birth, Perkins said.

Perkins said the incident began at approximately 11:50 a.m. when a neighbor witnessed four males removing what appeared to be a piece furniture, later determined to be flat screen television, from a Brunswick Drive residence. The neighbor began following the green Honda occupied by the four males, also making a call to police.

“Detective Sergeant Johnson and Detective Castings were in the area in the same car and responded,” Perkins said. “When they got behind the vehicle and attempted to stop it, the driver sped off and a chase ensued. The chase took them up I-85 to the Union City exit and ended in the Sable Chase subdivision off of Buffington Road when the driver jumped from the car as it was still moving and ran off on foot. The vehicle then crashed through a fence and came to rest in a muddy retention pond with three other males still inside.”

Perkins said Cpl. Matt New and Officer Shawn Albea took the three males into custody while Johnson and Castings chased the driver on foot. The driver was found behind a residence, Perkins said.

Perkins said the suspect vehicle and tag were stolen.

Also participating in the incident were units from Fayette Sheriff’s Office, Fayette’s Hawk 1 helicopter, Fulton County Sheriff, Fulton County Marshal and Georgia State Patrol, Perkins said.

into another county, nor that Tyrone police had any authority to arrest in another county? Not that I would know, having never been chased.

State law gives police officers, no matter what jurisdiction they work for, the authority to apprehend individuals suspected of committing a felony. The suspects in this case were accused of burglary, and will probably be charged with theft by receiving - all felonies.

Most police chases do go outside of jurisdictional boundaries - it's just how it works. The police are also well within their rights to chase fleeing felons.

Hope that helped.

"both of College Park" NOT FAYETTE or PTC
"vehicle and tag were stolen" Grand theft auto anyone?

Maybe if their parents played golf and tennis and went to the gym they would have had their own flat screen TV.

Tell me agin how horrible Fayette county and in your opinion PTC kids are?

Listen hear, I am not from georgia originally and when i moved down here 3 years ago i found out one thing quickly. Managing alot of juveniles at a local Atlanta Bread "cafe", they are alot more resourceful than there parents think. I am currently a criminal justice major at a local university and i specialize in juvenile delinquency. What these PTC and Fayette county parents dont understand is that any juvenile are capable of what these "college park" kids did. Only the difference is that the parents of the upper middle class juveniles usually hide or ignore the problems that their own children cause because it may hurt thier reputation. So these parents in PTC or fayette county are able to afford to purchase their childrens love and affection with expensive toys, so in hopes that they dont have to be delinquents. Well in the case of the "college park" kids they are poorer than most people that live in the nicer areas of the county, so because of that they get ignored and are only left with a few choices. Either dont be a criminal or become a criminal, and yes alot of these juveniles choose the wrong path because it is the easier one. The thing is that alot of the juveniles in these upper middle class areas are choosing the same decisions by becoming criminals they just do it in a different matter. Drugs and alcahol is the biggest problem among these juveniles. They may not be robbing anyone in perticular, but they are destroying themselves emotionally and physically because of the neglect by there own parents or loved ones. So in conclusion, The Kids from the "wrong side of the tracks" are not any different than the "kids from the right side of the tracks". Spoiled juveniles just can get away with much more because thier problems are hidden from society for "moral standards" reasoning. I am not trying to agree with what those delinquents did is alright, but we just need to stop being ignorant to boundries and start looking at society as a whole.

I am from here. I graduated from Fayette Co. Much of my family still lives in the Fayetteville area. I think your not sure of what you speak. I grew up with alot of folks from around here. My parents were not wealthy, yet we had more choices than "to be or not to be a criminal" We were raised with a respect for people, family, the law. We weren't board, we had chores. We went to church on Sunday, school durring the week. I can hear me sounding like my father, it's accually funny. We've had multipal classes of people living Fayetteville for as long as I can remember. The class of people never did determin the outcome of the next generation. My father would call it "brought-up-ness". It's simply charactor.
You're correct in stating responsibility lies on the backs of the parents, but has nothing to do with class or wealth. Being humble is a way of life, charactor comes from practicing humility. No amount of money or lack there of effects true charactor. If it does, then it's no longer charactor...it's just a cover up.
May God Bless You.

It is very difficult for any parent - whose child has not been in trouble, to hear that there is a possibility that his/her child might be involved at anytime in criminal activities. Your point is heard. You are not the only person in Fayette County who observes that there is trouble a-brewing right here in 'Fayette County'. Most of the parents in this discussion are doing their very best to instill values in their offspring. What they don't realize is that their children come through them - but are not them. . . .and are capable of making poor decisions. All of the young people that we see in the Mall or in restaurants in Peachtree or Fayetteville are not always manifesting their parents values. . . and I think if their parents could see them, they would be disciplined immediately. The value of a small community is that if neighbors observe unacceptable behavior and share it with the child's family - that child will be helped in making better decisions in the future. This element of community 'caring' is missing in some of the communities in other counties.

With all due respect, bull, there is no excuse for stealing, when I was growing up, lots of the kids at my school had things I didn't have but I did not resort to stealing to even it all up. If you're out there stealing you are different and people like you can reason it any way you want but it's still stealing.

I don't know what we are going to do about these people. They live on government checks, and then they steal what they can't afford. The truth is, we can't afford to keep paying taxes to house, feed and clothe not only those on government welfare, but those in jail. Either way, we pay.

There are people all around who have more than I do, but I don't steal from them. And I don't think it's unfair that they have more money than I do.

This is going to take more than "edumacation."

I knew the answer to that. If I did I would quit my day job. Of course, we can let the highly educated such as "Jnick" solve it.

You proved your point- you called them trash! That goes to show you think you are better than them. I feel sorry for you to call kids trash. Do you honestly think PTC kids are perfect, well they are not their rudesness on the golf cart paths and cars show it. The only difference is PTC parents buy their kids toy cars and golf carts and other luxury things to keep them busy that these people can't afford. I feel sorry you would call anyone trash.

Until I decide to steal a car and buglarize a home, I will claim to be morally superior to these hoodlums. I hope you can feel the same compassion if it is your car or your house next time.

Don't feel too badly, they are probably out on bail and planning their next outing. I hope that they learned their lesson and will turn over a new leaf.

I feel sorry that you blame PTC parents for producing bad kids. You don't know me, how I raise my children or how I manage my money, but you sure write like you do. One might think you consider yourself better than PTC parents.

Enjoy your part of the county because I truly enjoy mine.

I live here, and by the way my house was broken into. I live in the same place that you do. I still do not think anyone is trash, that is sad that you do. You are not above them or anyone else. Do I have compassion, yes I do, they will end up in prison if something is not done. Oh, by the way you don't know me or how I raise my kids, but I am proud to say he knows he's not better. Why would I be better you are the one that acts like PTC kids are perfect. I am not so above everyone else to think I have a perfect child, that is so not true of anyone. I do enjoy my part of the county - it's the same as your except I live a different life than you do. I will never think anyone trash. I feel sorry for you.

Most in our county can afford things to keep their kids out of trouble, or keep them from getting in trouble. What all kids need are parents that supervise what they are doing, don't buy them things to keep them busy so you can go off and do your own thing. I think it's sad that parents choose golf, gym, tennnis over their kids. Don't tell me this don't go on- I know people who do it. If you have kids raise them with values and morals and what is important. We don't refer to others as trash, that is sad! All anyone wants is to know they have value. Everyone has value. God made us all.

I've got to disagree here, if you're stealing, you are trash. we do all have value, but if you're out stealing, you've lost your value, and value's, and you are trash, you can't sugarcoat it, a thief is a thief. By the way, I don't live in PTC and I'm as bluecollar as you can get, I didn't inherit anything and all I have I worked for and my wife worked for and my child has also helped pay for most of her big toy's and she has morals and values, and if someone acts like trash the're labeled as trash.

You hit the nail on the head!!!!! Caring and loving parents make all the difference in the world. You can't buy "parenting".

I was little curious about your remark concerning property and the fact that some can't afford things. You weren't advocating that the action of these teens is justifiable, were you?

You must not have read that I said that stealing was wrong, I am saying that these parents aren't doing a good job, but we have some in our county that don't do a good job either by their actions. Please, do you really think anyone who think stealing is alright! We don't have perfect kids either!

Trash, and not from PTC. Whose fault is it that these people can't afford a TV? Does that make it okay for them to steal what they want? You sound like one of them.

I live in this county and I am only saying what I see daily. The only reason people here can afford their Big kid toys for their kids is because they are in debt up to their nose and would never admit it. I don't act better than others. I choose to value people not put down certain counties and act like nothing goes on here. You can think or say what you want to about me, it doesn't matter - the truth is in front of your eyes. It's not right to steal from someone, but what do we have in this county - perfect kids??????? We need to teach our kids values and that others are important also. There's not anyone that I think is trash!
