2 office/warehouse plans OK’dThu, 08/30/2007 - 3:45pm

Two office/warehouse developments in Peachtree City’s industrial park were given the thumbs-up by the planning commission Monday night. One of the projects is actually an addition of two buildings totaling 11,500 square feet of space to a site that currently has a 5,500 office/warehouse building at 304 Dividend Drive. The site is 1.59 acres and the developer plans to make one of the buildings appear as if it is connected to the existing building by extending the roof line. The other approved office/warehouse project is for a new 4,780 square foot building on a 1.03 acre tract in the South 74 Industrial Park subdivision. There will be an open area on the site for storage of materials for the sandblasting business that will be located there, the developer said. In other business, the commission discussed a proposal to add a second 7,000 square foot retail building onto the 2.14-acre site that has already been approved for development of a Discount Tire store. The tract is located at the intersection of Ga. Highway 54 and MacDuff Parkway and is owned by David McMurrain. City Planner David Rast said staff will need to take a closer look at the development plan because the store is very close to an tunnel under MacDuff that the city has already built for the cart path system, and the elevation of the tunnel is much lower than the elevation of the Discount Tire store, which would share parking with the new store, according to a developer’s representative. Because the plan was presented during the workshop portion of the meeting, the commission did not vote on the matter. login to post comments |
