Anybody that has seen me at the Council meetings will know that I'm most certainly NOT one of Barry's Golden Children. I'm a very out in the open, straight shooter, tell it like it is kind of guy and that most certainly is not what Barry wants.

Now, specifically (which is what you want), as far as Barry/Valerie's future with the town that is a personnel matter. When elected I plan to have a heartfelt discussion with Barry. Right now all I hear is rumor and innuendo, if there is evidence, let me see it, and I want to see it. Then we can make a change and not cause another lawsuit for the town to defend.

Mr. Shenkle, all the proof you need about Barry Amos is contained in Ordinance #454 dated February 19, 2004. Read it. This ordinance is Barry's brainchild. It deleted all land uses in all business districts and substituted all new uses. It has caused enormous financial losses to businesses, put many out of business and has created a constant flow of people asking the Council to return their land uses. To which Barry's puppets Smola, Letourneau and Lee always vote against. This ordinance was the under handed, backdoor beginning of their Downtown Redevelopment conspiracy. It is the backbone of the Comprehensive Plan to which Barry has issued a written purpose, known only to Council members, to "Eliminate Incompatible Structures". AKA The Downtown Overlay. The ordinance is the sole cause of the $2.3 Million lawsuit. Since Valerie will not give you public records without a legal freedom of information citation, its in the mail to you.

Proof, I'm very interested in reading this. As you say, obtaining a copy of it seems to be an impossible task.

Let me take this opportunity to comment on the Downtown Redevelopment Plan, or The Developers Maximum Profit Plan as I refer to it. I don't support more sewage for Tyrone, we're not using what we have. When you rule out getting more, this leaves downtown without sewage and without sewage you don't get high density which I also oppose. It can't get much easier than that.

It's public record and as Don Renwaldt posted earlier, he went to town hall and had not had any trouble whatsoever getting public records. I challenge you to go the town hall tomorrow and request to see a copy of it - it has nothing to do with sewage, it is about deleting land uses in the downtown area.

I actually thought it was Renwall at first but I recalled seeing your name on the blog before and knew it had an "ldt" I don't know you but there has been a fairly reliable rumor going around that you could be the best vote for Mayor. And, yes I concur, Fayette County Court, the Tax Office and Planning and Zoning office - {of Fayette county, I think that is what you are saying and if so then read on}- are all very professional and helpful and there does appear to be an open door and they appropriately give you access to public records and also assist if necessary. The same does not ring true for Tyrone Town Hall, unfortunately.

Whoever steps up to run against Mr. Gordon will probably be Barry's golden child. So if you like questionable budgets, oppression, disrespect, and government that does not care about the taxpayers then that will be your choice. Otherwise, I appreciate Mr. Gordon coming forth with his announcement before the last minute and the platform looks good, but the voters really want to know how Gordon stands on Barry. Even if Gordon would agree to try to get some control over Barry and make Barry accountable then some of the citizens may be satisfied. Tyrone will be placed in even more great jeopardy if we get another Smola or someone who blindly follows Barry without reading and researching what Barry is doing. Just a thought.

Thanks for your nice comment! Obviously, I don't like questionable budgets, oppression, etc. As I said in my earlier post, I'm a very straight forward kind of guy. That's why one of my platforms is about keeping things out in the open and when elected that is what I'm going to do. I required accountability from my staff, and will require that of anybody who would work for me. They always know where they stand with me and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Thanks for being courageous enough to say the things you have said! IT seems like everyone is so scared of Barry Amos and Mike Smola.....and the rest of the "Mayberry Gang." Tyrone needs some accountable leadership now that Barry has tried to subvert the laws and treat residents and taxpayers like crap! Please be aware of candidates who announce their candidacy before the end of August....some of them have some pretty questionable histories. I haven't liked the way the current Council has done business for quite some time. I've heard words about "setting precedents" used way too often, on situations when homeowners and business owners have come before the Council when there is clear and unique need for relief from the town.

I thought it was hilarious when Grace Caldwell told Barry that he has made a "misrepresentation" to the Town Council regarding sewer usage. Barry's face turned beet red. It was a site to see. I bet it is not the first misrepresentation Barry has made, he seems trained and skilled at it.

Remember when Tyrone's Council passed its new 20 year Comprehensive Plan, one Councilwoman asked why do we need a Comprehensive Plan? She was told the law requires it. That was a misrepresentation. Comprehensive Plans are only a requirement to participate in the ARC program to obtain the Federal money. The worse thing about the program is that it requires local municipalities to change their land use codes which takes away property rights, closes down existing business and takes property from people without any compensation.

Here's a good one Tyrone Aries. T'was a site to see. Not only Barry's face turned beet red, I swear I saw 2 long bony protuberance on his forehead. His mouth was fuming white when the Council overruled Amos' effort to put Walter's Auto service out of business by refusing a license renewal. three times the Tyrannical bureaucrat argued that Ordinance #454, AKA Amos Law, would not allow him to issue the license, while his sidekick Assistant Fowler admonished the Council for upsetting her Standard Procedures. Completely void of discussion was the fact that Walter would suffer substantial monetary losses and a business that took 2 decades to build-up. One wonders how these two government employees would feel if the Council decided to take away their income by FIRING THEM. Which is what they need to do to preserve Tyrone's businesses. By the way, the vote was 3-1. Smola as usual voted against it.

Oh yeah - I recall that one too. I laughed for days.....It is old news that Barry misrepresents everything!! If you hired a court reporter to follow Barry around and record all the things he says verbatim, you would have an easier job picking out the truth, because there would be so little of it, if any at all!!

On another note, Smola does not have a chance in heii of being elected as Mayor. I don't even know his wife, but everyone I know that knows Ms. Smola, hates her with a passion. I do not have kids, so I am unfamiliar with what she has done at the school. Maybe someone could post some examples of why she is so disfavored. I would really like to know. The Daily Report, an Atlanta-based legal newspaper, says a donor confirms that state Supreme Court candidate Mike Wiggins met with an independent committee accused of illegal coordination with him – but that the meeting was held before Wiggins became a candidate for the Georgia Supreme Court last fall.]

Here's copy of the ethics complaint that was filed Wednesday against the right-wing Wiggins, his political committee and the Safety & Prosperity Coalition, a pro-business group formed to defeat Hunstein.

A donor to an independent committee accused of illegal coordination with state Supreme Court candidate J. Michael Wiggins verified Thursday allegations that committee leaders met with potential candidates for this year’s race, including Wiggins.

But the donor, Gould Hagler of the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia said the meeting with Wiggins did not violate the law because Wiggins was not yet a candidate in the race......

Hagler’s comments came a day after Atlanta attorney Gary B. Andrews filed a complaint with the State Ethics Commission claiming that the Safety & Prosperity Coalition (i.e. ERIC DIAL) violated rules forbidding independent groups, which are not subject to contribution limits, from coordinating its expenditures with a candidate’s campaign.

The complaint said representatives of the Safety & Prosperity Coalition (i.e. ERIC DIAL) met with potential candidates before and after the group registered with the ethics commission in January.

The complaint also attached e-mail discussions between a then-Wiggins campaign representative..... and the treasurer of the Safety & Prosperity Coalition (i.e. ERIC DIAL) about fundraising and talking points.

Wiggins’ campaign said the complaint is false and based on untrue information from a disgruntled former employee. H. Eric Dial, chairman of the Safety & Prosperity Coalition, said he didn’t want to comment on the contents of the complaint but was confident that the Ethics Commission would rule in his group’s favor because there was no coordination. Whatever the Ethics Commission does on the complaint will likely not affect the Nov. 7 election. Ethics Commission Executive Secretary Rick Thompson said Thursday his office had done a sufficiency review and put the complaint on the list to be investigated. But with the current backlog, he said his staff won’t begin investigating for about six months.

Regardless, the complaint raises the issue of the contours of the law governing what an independent committee—a new factor in Georgia judicial races—is allowed to do.

I have extensive experience in dealing with Barry. Barry is a greedy, control freak!! He has already been dismissed from two other town government positions for the exact same kind of crap he doing in Tyrone - this all before landing in Tyrone in the late 1990's. I don't underestimate Barry because I know he is capable of anything. But I will not back down just because he may have some "deep connections." I have deep connections too!! I am in this fight to the very end and will use all of my knowledge, power and experience to exact the removal of Barry Amos from Tyrone government. I do not believe in underhanded or illegal or questionable resources. I believe in taking it to the streets and getting everyone involved. That is why I am on this site - to make people aware of exactly what the secret Tyrone government does. They pass ordinances and land use plans under the glaze of public welfare, when what they are doing is really illegal. And Barry always put the blame on someone else. Like at last week's council meeting where Grace Caldwell said he misrepresented the sewer usage issues. Barry turned beet red and got flustered but then said to the council that it was ultimately up to them - putting the responsibility on the council. He has also put Sheryl Lee on the hot seat, blaming her for many of his wrongdoings.

I don't care if Barry has 100 of his lackeys announce at the last minute that they are running for mayor or town council. The point is that the citizens of Tyrone should be aware of these kinds of tactics in politics. It is strategy and politicians lie. That is only truth that can be said about politicians. I have been in contact with several other citizens of Tyrone who have had trouble with Barry and the Town Council and the Mayor - 2 of them have filed lawsuits against the town and another one is one the way. If I was on the town council or planning commission or any other position in the Tyrone government, I would be separating myself from Barry and Valerie quickly. Make those who caused these problems accountable for them!!
