Lady Panthers top Fayette in softball

In other softball action Tuesday, the Starr’s Mill Lady Panthers defeated the Fayette County Lady Tigers for the second time this season, 6-1.

Half of Starr’s Mill’s runs came on hits — it had six total — and the other half came on errors.

Paige Peurifoy stood out at the plate and on the mound for Starr’s Mill.

She went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and she struck out 12, walked two and allowed two hits in five and two-third innings to record the victory.
Alexis Evans struck out one and gave up one run and four hits in one and one-third innings.
East Coweta defeated Pike County 7-2. The Lady Indians were led by Lisaira Daniels (2-for-3), Jordan Martin (2-for-3), Rebecca Cresswell (2-for-4), Shirley Daniels (2-for-4), Taylor Gaston (1-for-1) and Christina Ezell (1-for-3).
Christina Ezell pitched a six-inning one-hitter. She struck out 11 and walked none.

Alison Owen closed out the game by striking out two, walking one and giving up two runs in the seventh.

Although Fayette County's softball program has obviously gone way down hill over the last couple of years, let's not overlook the things that they do accomplish. Whitney Carter got one of the hits allowed by Starr's Mill and scored the only run for the Lady Tigers. Way to go Whitney!
