A Brooks teen was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when the Jeep he was riding in flipped, trapping him underneath, deputies said.

Matthew Norton, 17, of Sovereign Trail was flown to Atlanta Medical Center where he was last heard to be in critical but stable condition, deputies said.

Norton was the front-seat passenger in a 1999 Jeep Wrangler driven east on Friendship Church Road by Todd Brock, 17, of Treillage Lane, Peachtree City, police said. The vehicle was driving too fast for conditions when Brock lost control of the vehicle, causing it to run into a ditch and overturn, police said. The Jeep came to rest on top of Norton, who was not wearing his seat belt when the crash occurred, police said.

Brock and another passenger in the rear of the Jeep, Trey Lawson of Grapevine Curve, Peachtree City, suffered minor injuries in the crash, police indicated.

The Jeep had been removed from Norton by the time one of the first deputies arrived on the scene, police said. Police could not initially confirm whether or not Brock and Lawson managed to push the vehicle off Norton.

Deputies have said they intend to file charges against Brock in the case, but they have not yet formally done so.

The Norton family has created a webpage to keep family and friends updated as to Matt's progress. You may view it at www.caringbridge.org/visit/mattsmiracle.

As of 11:30AM on Monday Aug 27th, over 3400 people have visited the webpage.

Matt is an awesome young man! He is active in his church, Harp's Crossing Baptist in Fayetteville. He plays in the Youth Praise and Worship Band. He is a Senior and plays baseball at Starr's Mill High School. He has touched many lives in a positive way throughout his life and continues to do so as he journeys toward recovery from this accident.

This is what I've heard on Matt's injuries.

Supposedly the two other boys ran to a home near the site of the wreck to get help. The man, who is an off duty paramedic grabbed his medical bag and with his wife they all went to the crash scene. The paramedic and along with the two boys lifted the jeep while the wife pulled Matt out. I think the paramedic proceeded with CPR until Emergency Services arrived.

The latest seems to be that Matt is stabilized and the next 24 hours is crucial for him. Whatever that means. Puzzled According to my sources close to the family, Matt is suffering from blood on the brain and a punctured lung. His breathing has improved from 100% assisted to 70%.

It's obvious Matt is in need of our prayers along with his parents Chip and Pam. Matt also has two brothers and two sisters. If I heard right the other two boys are OK and have been at the hospital.

Again, I'm not 100% sure of any of these details, but I know there are those who care and some on here that know the family.
