Brooks teen hurt in crashThu, 08/23/2007 - 9:31am
By: John Munford
A Brooks teen was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when the Jeep he was riding in flipped, trapping him underneath, deputies said. Matthew Norton, 17, of Sovereign Trail was flown to Atlanta Medical Center where he was last heard to be in critical but stable condition, deputies said. Norton was the front-seat passenger in a 1999 Jeep Wrangler driven east on Friendship Church Road by Todd Brock, 17, of Treillage Lane, Peachtree City, police said. The vehicle was driving too fast for conditions when Brock lost control of the vehicle, causing it to run into a ditch and overturn, police said. The Jeep came to rest on top of Norton, who was not wearing his seat belt when the crash occurred, police said. Brock and another passenger in the rear of the Jeep, Trey Lawson of Grapevine Curve, Peachtree City, suffered minor injuries in the crash, police indicated. The Jeep had been removed from Norton by the time one of the first deputies arrived on the scene, police said. Police could not initially confirm whether or not Brock and Lawson managed to push the vehicle off Norton. Deputies have said they intend to file charges against Brock in the case, but they have not yet formally done so. login to post comments |
