The 6 EX

I sure hope that the citizens of Fayette are aware of the blanket made of wool that Mr. Dunn and his comrads are waving around. Please take the time to research and even speak with county employees as to the nature of his support while in office. Mr. Dunn and his collective are so opposed to a defined pension plan that maybe he should return his pension. What about the others? What types of retirement or pensions do they have?

Mr. Dunn is not aware of nor does he care about the welfare of the county employees. He speaks of previous commissions improving benefits but doesn't say what he did as a Chairman to improve benefits. All he has done is spout off bits and pieces of information to inflame the situation.

Currently Mr. Dunn has the same weight of input as any other taxpaying citizen. I wonder how many of them enjoy a pension from the government.

This county is full of pensionaires. But you see they earned theirs in difficult circumstances, and besides they are special.
Hypocrites bother me enormously.
Having said that, I am generally against guaranteed tax paid pensions, paid by the government with little or no contribution by the person. Especially for healthy people.
It promotes hanging on just to get it.

I understand your concerns with gauranteed tax paid pensions. But I do have to disagree with the comment made about "little or no contribution by the person." It would seem that people forget the years of service that must be met to qualify an employee for the retirement benefit. Also, does an individual need to be injured and/or sick to qualify for retirement? As for "hanging on just to get it", what happened to people having loyalty and pride in their job and the place with which they do it?

I think everyone has to work "years" to get a pension, not just government employees, or a few industries.
I say, if you can make more at something else, then do it. If that is more important than your "service."

Maybe I was misunderstood. I know that pensions require all to work years but the relation is to the service performed over those years. As for making more at something else, I'm sure you would understand better if you talked to some people that are in the business of proptecting life, property, and the environment.

We could probably go on forever with differing opinions and that is great. Isn't that what America is about? I am just here to have a say on the topic of a defined benefit for county employees. All need to consider that a comparison of apples to apples is more equitable and not Delta Benifit Packages to Fayette County Benefit Packages.
