College football games

Kevin Wandra's picture

The 2007 college football season is set to start -- finally! -- and I recently thought about what game I'm most looking forward to watching. Since I'm a Jersey guy, I'll go with Rutgers at Louisville on Nov. 29. Two of the best players in the nation will be featured: Rutgers running back Ray Rice and Louisville quarterback Brian Brohm. Other games I look forward to seeing are Michigan-Ohio State, Florida State-Florida, Florida State-Miami, Georgia-Florida and Penn State-Michigan, just to name a few.

What game(s) are you most looking forward to watching this season?

It's not me. BTW, I'm partial to USC or UCLA. Sorry, its kind of a hometown thing.

I guess with Calvin gone from Georgia Tech, expectations around there are pretty low. And they should be. There are between 5-6 losses lurking for them on that schedule (Notre Dame, Boston College, Clemson, Miami, Virginia Tech and Georgia) and even if they steal 2 or 3 there chances are they blow it against a Virginia or a Maryland.

I'm glad a Jersey boy realizes the finest college football is played in the SEC. There are some other quality teams, but if they played an SEC schedule, they would be nowhere in the BCS picture.

Look south, Jersey boy, for real college football. How about LSU vs. Virginia Tech? LSU vs Auburn could decide the SEC West, while Alabama vs. Fla. State has half of Alabama and the Florida panhandle already fired up...Rutgers vs. Louisville sounds like a one-sided basketball game.

First of all, I asked, "What game(s) are you most looking forward to watching this season," not what will be the best game(s) of the year. Second, yes, the SEC is the best conference in the nation. (I've been saying that for years.) But once you take your blinders off, you will notice that some of the top teams in the nation don't play in the SEC: USC, Texas, Michigan, Ohio State and Oklahoma, just to name a few. And, if you look north, you'll find West Virginia and, yes, Louisville.

play between the hedges on Sept. 1 and squash the Bulldogs? What effect is that going to have on the rest of the season? Ouch!

Have the Bulldogs ever lost the first game of the season under Mark Richt? I know last year was close but Richt and the boys are going to be prepared. They might not lose until they hit Knoxville and maybe not even then.

Matthew Stafford is a Golden God!

I'm ready and willing to wager 6 COLD ONES of your choice on it.

The Cowboys will take a beating like a good rented mule should. Although, I am looking forward to my trip to Stillwater in 2010. Should be much fun.

Kentucky/Vandy would be more iteresting. The Big 11 is a total bore, they have one game a year. I totally discount any conference not man enough to crown a true champion.

LSU/VT should be a blowout in favor of the Cajuns. Clemson/FSU is an interesting early season game. I'm not sure if FSU is really back yet. UT/UF and UGA/UF are two excellent early season games. LSU/AU and LSU/BAMA will be interesting for totally different reasons. UGA/UF used to be very interesting, before my Dawgs started wetting the bed consistently in Jax. That monkey needs to be thrown off UGA's back. The SEC Championship game will be a good one, and usually the best team in the Country wins it.

Kentucky/Vandy is gonna be sweet - Kentucky has the best QB in the SEC, Andre' Woodson, (sorry Matty) and I can't wait for Jefferson Sports to be all over this one - especially with all those Sonic commercials during every break - Cookie Dough Shake, anyone? I like mine shaken not stirred.

Hokies beat LSU - easy, FSU slaps down Tommy and the Tigers, Gators stomp Vols, get edged by Dawgs (finally!) and UGA wins the SEC over LSU.
(In Jesus' name I pray, Amen).
