Fayetteville police are working on identifying a masked man and woman who robbed the Zaxby’s restaurant on Ga. Highway 85 near the Fayette Pavilion late Monday evening.

One of the intruders had a baseball bat, and five employees were ordered into the cooler, said Police Lt. Beverly Trainor. The assailants also confiscated the employees’ cell phones, but one of the employees managed to keep theirs to call 911, Trainor said.

No one was hurt during the incident, she added.
Trainor said police were following up on some leads in the case Wednesday morning.

The suspects, a black male and a black female, were dressed in all black with black ski masks, and it was the black female wielding the baseball bat, police said

The suspects apparently entered the business after an employee went out the back door to take out trash just before 11 p.m., Trainor said. When the employee came back, he noticed the door was closed and locked, and he went around to the front of the store he was unable to get someone to let him in, Trainor said.

When the employee went back to the rear of the store, he heard the rear door close, Trainor said.

Police have recovered two ski masks that were believed to have been used during the crime in addition to some of the change. The suspects were also wearing black gloves, Trainor said.

The suspects got away with approximately $2,000, police said. It was not known whether they got away on foot or had a vehicle nearby for escape, police said.

A K-9 dog attempted to search the area in an attempt to pick up the suspects’ scent, but he was unsuccessful, Trainor said. When the call was relayed to police, an officer was very close by but several minutes had already passed since the suspects escaped, Trainor added.

One of the ski masks was recovered in the driveway of a day care center just behind the restaurant and the other was recovered in an area off Ellis Road, Trainor said.

If the suspects were wearing "all black with black ski masks" and "black gloves", how do you know they were black?

They were ex-employees

I suspect that the employees "profiled" them!
Similar to what we now do with people from the middle east.
They could be wrong, or maybe they were speaking ebonics, but even that could be faked!

Could be the same guy that robbed the dollar store in PTC. I'm sure it wasn't their fault...maybe they were binge drinking....or maybe their great, great, great grandparents were brought to this country as slaves. That explains it all away doesn't it???

Amazingly enough my grandparents escaped Nazi Germany, but I still have to be a law abiding citizen. What's up with that?? I'm being discriminated against. I should be able to use their hardship as an excuse to not work, or obey the law.

Hey big brother jessie the hate monger why aren't you protesting for me??
