PTC Pirates place third at state swimming championships

PTC Pirates at state meet

Peachtree City’s summer recreational swimming team, the Pirates, swam to its best performance in the team’s history of 30 years. The team placed third out of 22 teams in the state at the Georgia Parks and Rec. Swimming Championships held July 20-21 at the Augusta Swim Center.
Scoring individual points while swimming in the 7-8 girls age group were Samantha Schmid (5th, 50 freestyle) and Emily Meilus (2nd, 25 backstroke, 4th, 100 Individual Medley).
The relays made up of Samantha Schmid, Chantel Chandonia, Bridgette Machemehl and Emily Meilus placed 5th in the 100 freestyle relay and 4th in the 100 medley relay.

Swimming in the 9-10 girls age group and scoring individual points for the Pirates were Erin Egoroff (6th, 25 freestyle), Stacie Evans (1st, State Champion 50 freestyle, 2nd, 100 individual medley), Claren Anderson (7th, 25 backstroke & 25 butterfly) and Tyler Burrell (5th, 100 individual medley). The 9-10 girls 100 freestyle relay of Stacie Evans, Claren Anderson, Erin Egoroff and Khloe Slaughter placed 4th.

Missy Beall scored individual points in the 11-12 girls age group (3rd, 100 freestyle & 50 backstroke). The 9-10 girls 200 freestyle relay made up of Missy Beall, Caitlyn McMinn, Olivia Decker and Sarah Salinski swam to a third-place finish.

The 13-14 girls age group for the Pirates produced points from Anna Beard (8th, 50 backstroke), Haley Smith (3rd, 50 breaststroke, 6th, 100 individual medley), Alexandra Curtis (6th, 50 breaststroke), Elizabeth Evans (5th, 50 butterfly), Sydney Currenti (5th, 50 butterfly) and Hannah Wright (8th, 50 butterfly). Kiersten Mossburg, Sydney Currenti, Haley Smith and Hannah Wright placed 6th in the 200 freestyle & 200 medley relays.

Kristen Bates and Nicole Roddenbery both broke state records in their individual events. Kristen Bates won the 50 breaststroke with a new state record while placing 4th in the 50 freestyle, and Nicole Roddenbery won both the 50 butterfly and 100 individual medley creating two new state records in the process. Kristen Schroder, Andrea Decker, Kristen Bates and Nicole Roddenbery claimed State Titles in the 200 freestyle & 200 medley relays.

Representing the Pirates in the 7-8 boys age group were Brian Buck (7th, 25 Breaststroke) and Nic Palmer (5th, 25 butterfly, 5th, 100 individual medley).

Scoring individual points in the 9-10 boys age group were John Michael Hall (2nd, 25 freestyle, 6th, 50 freestyle) and Austin Palmer (7th, 50 freestyle). Tim Wright (5th, 50 freestyle, 7th, 100 Freestyle) and Robbie Scott (7th, 50 backstroke) scored points for the team in the 11-12 boys age group.

Putting points on the board for the Pirates in the 13-14 boys age group were Jack Beall (2nd, 100 freestyle, 2nd, 50 butterfly), Mark Buck (4th, 100 individual medley, 7th, 100 freestyle), Ryan Haycraft (7th, 50 backstroke) and Weston Dean (7th, 100 individual medley. The same group of men placed 3rd in the 200 medley relay and 4th in the 200 freestyle relay. David Wright took 2nd in the 50 freestyle and 3rd in the 100 freestyle and David Menchinger took 1st in the 50 backstroke and 2nd in the 100 individual medley. The relay team of David Wright, Eric Schroder, Jim Roddenbery and David Menchinger claimed a state title in the 200 freestyle relay and placed runner-up in the 200 medley relay.

Could you please post the times, as well ?

News reports on swim meets almost always include times.

The times were not sent to me by the coach. I can only print what is given to me and is available.
