King announces PTC Council candidacy

By: Letters to the ...

As a 20-year resident of Peachtree City, I strongly believe the quality of life that my family has experienced here must be maintained, as well as enhanced.

My family moved here from Germany during the summer of 1987, and the same small-town atmosphere of safety, excellent schools, and community that brought us here must remain for those families who follow. Simply stated, this is our responsibility.

Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to announce my candidacy for City Council.

As a long-term Peachtree City resident and a career Army officer who served through the ranks to lieutenant colonel, I feel my experiences qualify me to serve the residents of our city.

My postings included the position of chief of staff for a military community, where I learned first hand, the complexities of issues facing municipalities. It is my desire to serve the citizens of our city.

Currently, Peachtree City is a wonderful place to live, and we must take the steps now to insure the concept created by our city’s founders is not abandoned.

There are issues facing us today that have caused segments of our society to take sides, on one extreme or the other. While growth is necessary, it must be accomplished within the guidelines of protecting our small-town atmosphere and quality of life, not only today but for the generations to come.

I applaud the current council for keeping their actions open and maintaining a continuing dialog with residents.

I solicit your support and vote in the upcoming election, so that together, we can keep Peachtree City the place we love to call home.

Michael L. King

Candidate for City Council

Peachtree City, Ga.

You got my vote - unless you are a Democrat. Then I'd have to change my little mind.

Back to my old picture, so I can say "I don't have a dog in this fight" with real feelings.

Are you dreaming? He's former military officer! There is no such person foolish enough in this county to embarrass himself.
They (democrats) are not even allowed in the Y- Not! Nor, RT, or Longhorns.
Also, dems are against TDK, developers, financial people, banks who sue us, tennis centers and Tourist Associations (haven't seen any tourists lately), big boxes, third dippers, pay for short public service, code officers who ignore code violators, (people who park on grass, trailers, campers, boats, 3 cars, and have dead grass), professional offices with exit lights out and exits blocked, and on and on......

Just hedging my statement of support. He sounds like the right type of guy - especially since I heard he's not applying for the August appointment - that's class.
But if he or anybody is a closet or open Democrat, I'll throw them off the bus immediately - especially after that nonsense in the House of Representatives yesterday - what children they are.
