If our soldiers who are getting killed and wounded every day had had sense enough not to join the army or navy or air force, they wouldn't have died when they did! What a stupid argument!

He says it all " had sense enough not to join.."

I think he needs to watch "Saving Private Ryan" particularly the part where the mother watched as the car comes up the road and she knows that something bad has happened and then collapses into tears.

I say we ignore him!!!!

Also, I apologize if I offended anyone with my earlier P.O. post.

Cal, I'll understand if you have to ban me.

OK everyone it's, your turn. It was great blogging with you all.

I don't know what dollar wrote, but I was young during Vietnam and saw a lot of BOYS go to war for an old man's fight. I had friends who died there, some who came home maimed for life and others that lived, but spent years, wishing they had died there with their friends. What it does to young men is damaging in many ways, it ruined many lives, and I don't wish that on this generation. BUSH ...DIDN'T GO TO WAR...HE WAS BORN WITH A SILVER SPOON IN HIS MOUTH. When poor old farm boys were doing their duty, frat boy was living high on the hog. I could go on, but the deal is, Bush was a coward, took every out and left the other young men to fight the war. Now he is president, and trying to play macho using other people's lives. During ww1, WWII, Vietnam, etc, the pres made a showing other than a peeing contest. The reasons most of our ancestors came to this country was, they called in the dogs, wizzed on the fire, and went home, meaning they LOOKED at the deal, made a decision, and acted on their smarts. Bush has done ..none...of this..you have to make decisions, accept when you were wrong, and do what is best for you and others. Bush has done none of this, and is still a little boy trying to play soldier using other people as toy soldiers..these toy soldiers are real...Bush is not.

One of the saddest situations that I have ever witnessed was to discover the condition of our military just after WWI until the late 1930s. We had no weapons of significance, but the worst part was our troops, enlisted and officers.
When there is no war, nor no seeming threat of war, as was the case then, everything went to hell. Leadership was horrible, in-fighting over what few promotions existed was extremely vicious, falsifying reports was rampant, training was not only lax, but non-existent in most cases. This has been the case with armies since people hid behind a rock and slew thousands with the jaw-bone of an ass!
The asses now are in Washington! It starts at the top for allowing such things (Walter Reed)and permeates down to the bottom.
Wars are needed to get money, keep discipline, provide careers, and have something to produce heroes; and on rare, great occasions to save the world from catastrophe!
Economics however, start most wars, as the current one is about.
They knocked down the towers due to economics as they saw it and we responded due to economics as we saw it.
All that is not necessarily bad on our part, except we don't seem to know how to win anymore, nor when to drop back and punt.
Whether Bush was a coward and a "frat" boy, as you say, isn't necessarily important. We don't always need a hero as a leader. Harry Truman was self-educated, but he proved who he was as a true military hero and leader. He dropped his old habits of being influenced by political gangs and did what seemed correct. I'm afraid the current bunch didn't drop anything they were taught as youth.
Brilliance and intelligence and scholarly discipline are needed and have their place, but everything can't be continually decided in that fashion. Everyone must be included when they are capable for specific problems or we get bureaucracy only.

I don't think that you are ignorant enough to try and criticize me for a dumb comparison of troops getting killed is in the context of you saying it is all right for kids to go ahead and die of tooth infection because they didn't brush their teeth.

You saw those words "dumb enough," and tried to forget about your lack of passion for kids who are at risk, long enough to fabricate a different meaning!

If you have read any of my blogs or comments you know I have fought this administration for a long time to STOP the killing by civil wars between Muslims of those loyal and brave people over there of ours!

You do know that. It was just an opportunity for you to be hypocritical.

I suppose you can never be convinced that there is a big difference in the very young soldiers who get blown up, (or the somewhat older guards and reserves with families), and the career dudes, including senior officers, who have made the choice to go along with anything, even if wrong!

I'm on those kids side, myself.
Scores of thousands more in Viet Nam would have met the same fate, left up to the professionals!
