PTC houses suffer minor damage from lightningThu, 07/26/2007 - 1:35pm

It was a close call that could have been much worse Wednesday night as lightning generated from a passing thunderstorm struck two homes in Peachtree City causing minor damage. A lightning strike at a residence on Sweetbriar Street off Ga. Highway 74 near Kedron Drive caused a minor fire in a crawlspace after the strike ruptured the gas line supplying the fireplace, said Assistant Fire Marshal David Williamson. A small fire was extinguished and the home was returned to the owner, he said. Further south at an Azalea Drive residence lightning struck a tree, jumped to a handrail and into the side of the house, Williamson said. Damage resulted to a portion of an interior wall but caused no fire, he said. login to post comments |
