Tug, are you OK, I haven't seen you commenting past day or so, maybe I just missed your posts, hope all is well.

Tug and Hutch, I tried Charlie's Home Cooking (old Du Roc). Yes ma'am the tea is sweet and the cornbread isn't. Some of the food was good, some not so good, on scale of 1-5, I'd say a 3. However, the place was full, the cashier said they were doing very well, so guess each person will have to decide for themselves. You can't beat the price though!

I'm doing okay, thanks. Smiling I've been really busy this week. My grand-daughter has been here.

I will try the food at the old Du Roc sometime. Sounds good! I ate at the new Goldens, it was okay. Nothing special, not a big variety.

I have been reading some of the comments...sitting on my hands, and biting my lip, trying not to post anything re the racist comments. I have a lot of respect and affection for Hack. I see Git pretty much said what I was thinking anyway.

You and I have a lot in common!! Smiling I don't work full time though.

I like your avatar. I need one if I can figure out how to do it.

Have a great day

What is your obsession with Scott Ballard? I have never been nearly that obsessed with him and I married him. I actually had to figure out how to blog because someone told me about you, which no doubt is entirely your point, whatever your motive. Why are you such a pantywaist hiding behind your silly misspelled moniker? I myself am easily found and I must say I resent you enormously, so look me up anytime you think you won't wet your pants. I tried to email you privately but brave soul that you are,
your email was unavailable.

I am not a politician and I am certainly not a diplomat. I am not on the state or circuit payroll, so I don't have to be nice to you. Get a life, pathetic creature.

And for what it is worth I hope Jeff Allen chokes on his jail food. Do any of you kind souls ever think about the people you hurt with your hatefulness? I suspect you know I exist because I have some suspicions about you myself. At any rate I don't know the creep, don't care to, don't like that SB was in a stupid prayer group with him, but do acknowledge that receipt of a subpoena does sort of compel one to show up in court. I just find it very interesting that as much as the incident distressed me at the time I very nearly never think about it. What's your problem? Want to be DA? Like adding to the misery of a sick woman with two handicapped kids? No matter what else might be said about Scott Ballard, he is a terrific lawyer and gives that job way more attention than it has seen in a while. Not great for me, but outstanding for the circuit. Personally I was okay with the great private practice.

Go ahead and libel me to your chicken heart's content--I have more to do than this. However, like I said, I am easily found and I am no more a coward than a politician or diplomat. Come and get me, tiger. I'm often in the courthouse parking lot around lunch, and one of the big strong deputies can point me out, and help protect you from me.

Find something constructive to do. Please.

Mrs. Ballard, surely you anticipated the rough and tumble of public life when your husband sought this position. Your husband fully understood the process, even as a private defense attorney. He was aggressive, persistent, and arguably effective. But he was most certainly unconcerned about others’ “feelings”. Quite appropriate for the process, however.

I believe that it is a legitimate criticism of Mr. Ballard that he may lack the zeal requisite for a prosecutor, particularly with regard to sex offenders. Could this be because he was a regular defender of sex offenders for years before becoming a prosecutor?

The most troubling aspect of Mr. Ballard’s service is the apparent absence of his outcry, as a native Fayette son, to the increase and influx of petty and violent crime in Fayette County. He seems unconcerned by the trend. Prove to me that he is concerned. Prove to me that his sympathies do not lie with the defendants and the defense bar.

I would like to believe that he is concerned but I am unconvinced.

I know Scott and have for many years.

I personally recommended him and referred clients to Scott when he was a defense attorney.

I have seen him in 'action' more than once as a defense attorney and as a prosecutor.

He is a good man and a good defense attorney but I am not impressed with him as a prosecutor.

I have said on here before that the deputy sheriffs that I have spoken with are NOT happy with Scott's performance thus far and I assure you that it was an unbiased survey of several different deputies and other officers.

Basically, I am writing to say that I have always liked him as a person but, I do not like what I know of you thus far.

You are coming across as rude, insulting and intolerant of the views of others. Unlike 'SB', 'Git_Real' is not a politician or a public figure. You verbally accosting 'Git' on his personal opinion of a public figure is NOT helping Scott's cause.

Perhaps you two are not cut out for the political spotlight.

Maybe if you were less 'aggressive' he would be more aggressive.

See you around the courthouse.

'Mixer'

P.S. - I don't think prayer groups are "stupid" (despite never belonging to one) and I don't consider your daughter 'handicapped'.

At first I was offended by your post script to joyb, “...I don’t consider your daughter ‘handicapped.’” Most parents don’t refer to their child as handicapped, if he/she is not. Having a disabled child (no matter the disability) is heartbreaking. When I found out that one of my children had learning disabilities I had to ask the teacher what it was. I had no clue. None. Never even heard the phrase before. The teacher sent home a video for me to watch and it made me cry. It absolutely blew me away. I never knew what her reality was until that time. I don’t think you realize that most parents would give anything for their child to be able to learn in a normal fashion. But, these children get what God gave them and that is that. We deal with it, the best we can, as a family and a school. Joyb’s daughter may have a hidden disability. Those are both the best and the worst kind to have. The best because the child is not singled-out (spec ed parents will know what I mean) and has a good chance of fitting in socially and becoming a productive member of society. Most of them do just that, they graduate from high school and college and become happy, productive members of society. Now, they may have had to work five times as hard for the same product as the non-disabled kid, but that is the way God designed them, fair, or not. You’ve actually pointed out the worst part of having a hidden disability. People may think you don’t have one, that you are possibly stupid, slow, clumsy, rude, lazy, or the best one of all, not trying hard enough. It’s hard on the kids and it’s hard on the parents (as most of us tend to feel the pain of our children). Do you have children? If not, I guess you’ll never understand what I’m trying to convey. Anyway, at first I was offended, but then I realized that this may be a world that you know nothing about. If that is the case, then you are very, very lucky indeed.

Mixer's picture
Submitted by Mixer on Mon, 07/30/2007 - 1:59pm.

Yes, I have three children and I know Scott's (joyb) daughter as well. Her 'disability' (if that is what YOU want to call it) is NOT hidden in the sense that no one would know who met her. You obviously have not met her or you would know that already. She is a kind, funny and sweet girl but she is certainly unique. My son LOVED her when he met her.

In response to your comment that: "You’ve actually pointed out the worst part of having a hidden disability. People may think you don’t have one, that you are possibly stupid, slow, clumsy, rude, lazy, or the best one of all, not trying hard enough. It’s hard on the kids and it’s hard on the parents (as most of us tend to feel the pain of our children). I think I have answered that but in case you missed it: Scott's daughter is exactly perfect in God's eyes and in mine. While she is certainly different than most, and certainly has an obvious set of unique challenges that you would notice if you saw her and spoke with her, I do NOT believe she is 'Handicapped'. As the father of a child with Down Syndrome, I refuse to believe that God created a 'handicap' for me, or for my child. You apparently do and that's your right and your loss.

Please learn more about the angels among us with Down Syndrome

Now then, let's move forward:

Do you have children? Yes, three. If not, I guess you’ll never understand what I’m trying to convey. You are correct. I don't understand what you are trying to convey. Scott's daughter graduated last year, my son will not graduate from a public school; however, both children are as valuable as any in this world and both are treasures...not 'handicaps'. I am sure Scott and Joy feel the same way.... so NO, I do not understand what you are saying.

Anyway, at first I was offended, but then I realized that this may be a world that you know nothing about. If that is the case, then you are very, very lucky indeed. Oh, I am already very lucky to have a beautiful son with an extra chromosome. It's your loss that you would view him as 'handicapped' in any way.

It seems you are often offended by what I say 'wildcat'. You wrongly attributed a change in my opinion about 'online schools' the last time we spoke and you were supposed to read about the University of Miami High School online and get back to me. You failed to do so.

Perhaps you are looking for something to have a problem with since Alan and Ms. (hic) Pena have both been on my 'idiot of the week' list? For what it's worth, I don't feel that way about Greg, Mike, or Mark or Jason T (your cop).

Finally, I would like to leave you with this thought:

hand·i·cap

1) the disadvantage or advantage itself.
2) any disadvantage that makes success more difficult.((THIS ONE?))
3) a physical or mental disability making participation in certain of the usual activities of daily living more difficult.(((THIS ONE?)))
4) to subject to a disadvantageous handicap, as a competitor of recognized superiority. ((( No way Jose)))

Like Debbie,

I am blessed with a child that is unique in many ways. I do not know what your definition of success is. I do know this:

My son is already a success. He is not 'handicapped' anymore than any other human being is, if you don't agree that's unfortunate and incorrect on your behalf.

Meet me at the Buddy Walk: Duluth, GA October 13 sponsored by the Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta

My face may be different
But my feelings the same.
I laugh and I cry
And take pride in my gains.
I was sent here among you
To teach you to love
As God in the heavens
Looks down from above.
To Him, I'm no different
His love knows no bounds;
It's those here among you
In cities and towns
That judge me by standards
That man has imparted,
But this family I've chosen
Will help me get started.
For I'm one of the children
So special and few
That came here to learn
The same lessons as you.
That love is acceptance,
It must come from the heart;
We all have the same purpose,
Though not the same start.
The Lord gave me life
To live and embrace,
And I'll do it as you do?
But at my own pace.

is that parents don't use the term handicapped lightly. I don't believe that I ever wrote that God "created a handicapped child for me." I believe I wrote that God gives us what he gives us. And we deal with it the best we can. My special ed connection is on a level quite different from yours. My interpretation of what you've written is that you have been led to teach others that we are lucky to have such unique children among us. I've been led to stand up for them in school and treat them as they were my own (which I do and at times to their displeasure). My bachelor's degree is in math (University of Iowa-1992), and teaching at all, much less special ed, was not my plan. Not by a long shot. Yet, here I am, with two post graduate degrees in special ed. And guess what? I wouldn't change a thing. It appears as though we are fighting for the same cause so to speak (or write). Just so you know, if I even 'think' that someone is making fun, or light, of special ed kids I will call them on it. I guess I don't have to do that with you.

No, I'm not a teacher, just a parent volunteer, but I did start subbing last year.

I volunteered many, many hours while my children attended FMS, and attend FCHS, usually in the front office so that's why I'm thinking our paths have crossed. I think it's wonderful when grandparents can be so involved and supportive of their grandchildren's school activities. I would see quite a few come to FMS over the years and they were always the most friendly, nicest people I'd encounter. Your children and grandchildren are blessed you live close enough to be a big part of their lives.

$ are you the result of poor potty training? Is that why you are mad at the entire world? Bless your heart, it truly is a shame to see someone who is so miserable all of the time. I'm very serious when I say, do you take medication? Perhaps you need to check the dosage. Great day in the morning, I've never seen the like!

Read my "Storm Monitoring" post and tell me how many I earned back. Please tell me I came close to maxing my card out over that one. Heck... Two sewage pump failures and Ole Git never even called a plumber. Plus I fix my own lawnmowers.

Cut me some slack buddy. Cool

OK, I'll give the two back and spot you an extra, I don't think I could have ever caught up with the stinky water with all the extra I would have been adding. I remember changing the hutchette's poopy diapers and gagging the whole time, and yet it never seems to bother woman, wonder why?

Oh man you have left an opening here!!! "It" never seems to bother a woman, wonder why . . .I'm just chomping at the bit to answer that question, alas, I shall remain a lady and not. But it sure is a wide opening! LOL! This will give me something to laugh about on the long drive home.

OK, I'll be kind. Crazy day yesterday, it just struck me very very funny, it did provide some chuckles for me just thinking of the many reasons, why women can deal with "it" and not be bothered! I'll be very kind and just say, we've seen and dealt with a lot of "it".

I just checked. They're 90% Rayon and 10% Spandex. What do I know anyways....I'm just a guy. Eye-wink

Somehow I think I had best shut up while before you guys try to take away more of my points. That does it. I'm going into the woods to kill something to restore my manhood back to its default settings.
