Cheap drugs at Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart has a prescription drug program that offers more than 400 generic drugs for $4 (30-day supply).

I had Kroger’s pharmacy match the price on Lisinopril. The cost without insurance is $39, $7.60 with Blue Cross Blue Shield. My insurance co-pay is $10.

Do the math: $39 without insurance extrapolates to $468 each year. Wal-Mart price [is] $48 for 12 months, a $420 difference.

Now that is a significant savings and a real service to folks who have to take meds on a daily basis.

We need to get the word out. Wal-Mart deserves some good PR for this public service. Visit wal-mart.com.

What Lakly does as a private citizen is his privilege. But if he identifies himself as state representative while singing the praices of Wal-Mart, that's another matter. It smacks of a play to get political contributions.

What a worthy state representative ought to do is to publicly lend his support to the efforts of Clayton State University to start a campus in Fayette County. A smart and dedicated representative would do that, as this project would really benefit the people of Fayette County.

The plug for Wal-Mart shows how some of our elected officials simply don't know how to use their office to represent us effectively. It provides yet another illustration of the pettiness of their thinking.
