Fayette County sheriff deputies arrested two suspects — and were looking for two more — immediately after a burglary in progress was reported in a neighborhood off New Hope Road early Monday afternoon, police said.

Deputies stopped one of the vehicles, a Honda Element, at the intersection of Whitney Way and New Hope, said Fayette County Sheriff Randall Johnson.

Two other suspects got away but deputies swarmed the area looking for their vehicle involved, which was originally described as a a blue four-door Oldsmobile Alero, Johnson said. Deputies were later told by a witness that the vehicle was black in color.

The sheriff’s department’s helicopter, Hawk 1, assisted in the search for the second vehicle, Johnson said.

The initial call to the Fayette County 911 center was broadcast on police frequencies as a burglary in progress at a home on Whitney Way shortly after 12:15 p.m. A 911 operator told deputies that a witness saw four men were trying to enter the home, and soon after they began to run away from the home.

Names of the suspects were not immediately available, but Johnson said detectives expected to get more evidence from a review of the home where the burglary occurred.

In broad daylight the FCSD Hawk 1 could not find the other vehicle? I am losing count here but it has to be at least Perps 8 / COPter 2?

It's expensive. It's "patrolling" one of the smallest counties in GA. It's ego trip & one of the egos has left the stage.

You have no idea how much that one copter increases morale! Cost is no objection!
Of course to be efficient and of much value at least three are needed with three full time pilots---one flying, one in maintenance and one ready to fly. Pilots can be on duty, off duty, and ready for duty.
