Beer found in injured driver’s car; other driver arrested for DUI Two Fayetteville men were racing each other when one lost control of his car on Walt Banks Road in Peachtree City across from McIntosh High School late Tuesday night, police said. Jeremy Liles, 23, was seriously injured in the crash, police said. Liles was going north on Walt Banks near the intersection of Southern Trace when his Scion vehicle skidded across the road and onto the cart path, police said. The Scion struck several subdivision signs and walls, causing his vehicle to overturn onto the cart path, police said. Police said at the time of the crash Liles was racing with the driver of a car behind him, and preliminary results of the investigation show Liles' vehicle was traveling at roughly 75 mph, police said. That driver, Cameron Lefeuvre, 28, of Fayetteville, was charged with DUI, racing, speeding and possession of duplicate driver’s licenses, police said. Beer and other items were found in Liles' vehicle, said Peachtree City Police Chief James Murray, but he declined to say what the "items" were, saying the investigation is ongoing. Liles was taken to Grady Hospital for treatment, police said. Officers expect to file additional charges pending an investigation into the crash by the department’s specially-trained accident reconstruction investigators. "It's just lucky that nobody was coming along when he had the wreck," Murray said. "... He's lucky he's alive and he didn't kill anybody." login to post comments |
