Fayette County Sheriff’s officials are investigating a single vehicle crash that killed a Newnan resident late Tuesday afternoon.

Officials said that Jarrett Simmons, 19, of Newnan was driving a 1999 GMC C-5500 truck north on Bankstown Road at 6:49 p.m.. Simmons told the police that he swerved to miss a dog, lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle overturned.

Simmons passenger, Jose Hernandez-Garcia,39, of Newnan was ejected from the vehicle, and pronounced dead at the scene.

This is the third fatality in unincorporated Fayette County this year. Officials are continuing to investigate the case and charges are pending.

seatbelt is CINTURON in "spanish". oh yeah it says nothing about a seatbelt. you may not know but in a vehicle rollover crash you can still be thrown from the car/truck even when wearing a seatbelt. i feel sorry for this dude and his family...hope it never happens to you guys.

I have stopped blogging on this site because there are certain people who seem to think they know it all. Their need to comment on just about everything, whether it is funny or not, makes me want to keep away from such ignorance. I see the same names commenting on politics, restaurants, immigration, the latest movies, etc. I guess these people are just walking encyclopedias. And to add fuel to the fire, they won't quit until someone agrees with them. Wow, they must feel such empowement in thinking they are right. I'm just glad they don't live next to me, since they would probably talk about how I dress, what I eat, and when nature calls.
The young man who lost his life was a Hispanic, with integrity, dignity and a sense of humility that only a person who serves God and truly loves his neighbor can be capable of having. He was a hell of a hard worker, paid his taxes, gave with his right hand so that the left could not see what he was doing, and was always there when needed at his church and for his loved ones. Both the deceased and the driver WERE wearing their seatbelts, CINTURON in spanish, CINTA in Italian, whatever. In fact the young man driving the vehicle has the bruising from the seatbelt. The saddness being experienced right now by the deceased's family and close ones is devastating, not to mention he was a mentor to the driver, who, by the way, is not Hispanic. I hope that when my time comes around, and it can be at any second, I will have lived a life as humble, caring and loving as was this blessed soul. To those that know it all, and get off by trying to humiliate others making comments witha lotsa knowledga señor - you are not worthy to sniff the socks this guy was wearing. Buona sera a tutti!

I'm sorry for your loss. It sounds like you were friends with this person. This sounds like it was a tragic freak accident. Ignore the knuckleheads on here, and let the healing begin.
