A north Fayette man was arrested early Sunday after he shot his girlfriend during a domestic dispute, police said.

Christopher McDaniel, 29, of 350 Carriage Drive remains in the Fayette County Jail after he was denied bond on one of the four charges filed against him.

The SWAT team of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office had to enter the home to find McDaniel after the incident, according to Lt. Belinda McCastle. McDaniel was hiding in the ceiling and arrested on the spot, she added.

The dispute began when McDaniel’s girlfriend came home around 6 a.m. and McDaniel confronted her, saying he smelled men’s cologne on her, McCastle said. After that, McDaniel told the woman that she and her mother needed to move out of the house, McCastle added.

The girlfriend then went into a room at the house and shut the door, and soon after McDaniel shot through the door, striking the girlfriend in the shoulder.

McDaniel is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and theft by receiving stolen property.
Five children who were in the home at the time of the dispute were uninjured.

I was there, and let me say that this was a little more than was reported to you John, but you went with what you had, so thats ok. He shot her during a domestic dispute, and after she was shot, she left the resdience leaving her five children behind while she sought medical attention. He then barricaded himself in the house with the kids. When the first units arrived they set up a permieter and attempted to make contact with McDaniel, but to no avail. One of the responding deputies, James Pitts, a trained Crisis Negotiator, was finally able to make contact with one of the juveniles through a window. After a tense 20-30 minutes Pitts convinced the children to try and come out of the house. About 15 minutes after the children were out, the SWAT team entered the house and after an exhausting search McDaniel was found hiding in the attic under some insulation. I have heard that Pits was posssibly going to receive some type of award or commendation for his actions in getting the release of the children but I haven't heard as of yet. THATS THE WHOLE STORY!!!
PS It's kinda hard for Belinda to give all the details since she wasn't there!!!!

Well the good news is that Rahim now has a playmate. Smiling I wonder if McDaniel wants to be Momma or PaPa?

McDaniel is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and theft by receiving stolen property.

Are you sure this didn't happen in Fulton, Dekalb or Clayton Counties? Puzzled
