A north Fayette man was arrested early Sunday after he shot his girlfriend during a domestic dispute, police said. Christopher McDaniel, 29, of 350 Carriage Drive remains in the Fayette County Jail after he was denied bond on one of the four charges filed against him. The SWAT team of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office had to enter the home to find McDaniel after the incident, according to Lt. Belinda McCastle. McDaniel was hiding in the ceiling and arrested on the spot, she added. The dispute began when McDaniel’s girlfriend came home around 6 a.m. and McDaniel confronted her, saying he smelled men’s cologne on her, McCastle said. After that, McDaniel told the woman that she and her mother needed to move out of the house, McCastle added. The girlfriend then went into a room at the house and shut the door, and soon after McDaniel shot through the door, striking the girlfriend in the shoulder. McDaniel is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and theft by receiving stolen property. |
