9/10 Journalists are Democrats. Duh.

Mixer's picture

It amazes me how liberal the 'mainstream' media is and how many people are in complete denial of this long time problem.

The same people who discount a conservative or balanced media outlet as 'unfair', unprofessional or biased will accept so much of the liberal major media as unbiased.

Recently, MSNBC.com identified 144 journalists who made political contributions from 2004 through the start of the 2008 campaign, according to the public records of the Federal Election Commission.

Most of the newsroom checkbooks leaned to the left: 125 journalists gave to Democrats and liberal causes. Only 17 gave to Republicans. Two gave to both parties.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (July 5) - Sen. Pete Domenici on Thursday withdrew his support of President Bush's Iraq war policy and embraced a proposal to bring home most troops by March.
Last week, Sens. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., and George Voinovich, R-Ohio, said the U.S. should significantly reduce its military presence in Iraq while bolstering diplomatic efforts. Sen. John Warner, R-Va., this month is expected to propose a new approach.

Sorry in a previous post (about Clinton's letter not to serve), I had forgotten about your service in a previous bad idea. You have no reason to be ashamed or apologize. You too were a victim.

They also serve who dissent & resist foolharty and stupid adventures.

Diplomacy is for wusses. The obvious solution is to use atomic weapons on the whole area and then drill through the radioactive glass for the oil. If only Bush and the VP weren't hopeless liberals, we could end this whole war in a ten millionth of a second!

I revel in her viciousness! Asking Elizabeth Edwards if she had a bumper sticker saying "Ask me about my dead son." What class! What a great Republican representative! Her venom appeals to the true believers but doesn't bring in a single vote for the R's while alienating decent people. She's a wonderful spokesperson for you. Family values and all that. She's Michael Moore and Rosie times two. No! Squared! Bring her on. Publish her everywhere! Let's expose the face and spokesman for the Republican party in all it's putrescence for everyone to see. More Ann! More Ann! The Coultergeist, embodiment of Republican values and moral superiority! I love her! Maybe for her next act she can eat a dead liberal and write about how sick it made her. She's the best. I can't wait for her next column. Decent people will no doubt cringe, but the Republicans out there will be with me; cheering her on.

Does the word "Guantanamo" mean nothing to you? You think the VP doesn't have your address? Dissent is criminal. Change you attitude or they'll do it for you. 564 more days until the whole world breathes a sigh of relief.

But I have been traveling for work.

There is a very simple reason that journalist are democrats. Their jobs require that they are knowledgeable about current affairs. The more they are exposed to reality, the more likely they will be democrats. This also holds true for academics. The more one studies and is educated about what is going on, the more likely they will be democrats. It’s perfectly obvious and completely understandable.

A true Canadian elitist.

What a great place to go for American values and economic advice. If Kennedy had lived, I wonder how he would have influenced America's economy?

After all, he was a major player in India's economic model and look how well that economy is doing.

He's perfect for a stratified society which, I suppose, explains why you think conservatives are uneducated and uniformed. I would refute your assertion with my own resume but I realize that it would be futile.

You know, I always thought 'coming of age' in a liberal arts college where 85% of the journalism professors were liberal draft dodgers had something to do with it. Silly me.

Thanks for posting 'John'.

I am sure your resume is quite impressive! And I will not deny that there are very well informed and educated conservatives. Anecdotal data points are meaningless. Journalists and academics are more likely to be Democrats precisely because they are more informed and more educated. That it is so is inevitable.

So, using your logic about why journalists and professors are liberal, the reason the military votes overwhelmingly Republican/Conservative and supports the war effort is because they are actually seeing what is going on in Iraq and worldwide in the military and are actually put their 'life and money' where their 'mouth' is as opposed to just reading and writing about what is seen on the periphery.

I get it now, make perfect sense. Thanks for the logic lesson.

Goodnight from Lexington.

. .the reason the military support the war is because they are excellent soldiers who obey their Commander in Chief and are trained to protect their fellow soldiers. They are trained to 'kill'. That is their job. It is up to the Commander in Chief and his Generals to put them in situations that they can win - and after six years, this has not been accomplished. For a soldier not to do his job is treason. For a Commander in Chief to put our soldiers in harms way based on a 'lie' - as is being discovered each and everyday in spite of the attempted 'cover-ups' is treason. Now go to your talking points - and post your response. I'm sure these guys and others are most upset by my post - but the incompetence of Cheney and Bush is being uncovered daily. I respect the office of President of the United States - and the duties of his staff. I have trouble with the current individuals who are now in these positions - as do other American citizens. I remember the Watergate - and this situation is going in that direction. This goes beyond 'conservative' and 'liberal' - this is reality as has been pointed out in this discussion. There is no simple way to get us out of this mess. So many lives are at stake. Immediate withdrawal is not the answer - has anyone in this discussion given some serious thought as to how we can correct the mistakes that have been made? Bush is now 'talking' to those who he refused to talk to . . .but it seems that they are more determined than ever to 'get the oppressors' out of the Middle East. We should not be in this position!! Our lack of knowledge - or our refusal to listen to those who understood the culture of the Middle East - is causing a no-win situation for our troops. There appears to be those with military experience on this board. Can you share your thoughts?

I realize you aren't smart enough to have a moniker without errors, so I am typing this very slowly for you:

Mixer (me) and Maximus ARE both veterans and we are not blind sheep who vote Republican because, as you say, "obey their Commander in Chief". That is possibly the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Do you actually think that everyone in the military votes with the Commander in Chief?

The worst Commander in Chief I ever had was Jimmy Carter.

I can assure you he did not turn me in to some sort of liberal 'Democrat', but quite the contrary.

As an intelligent and well educated man, like many other brilliant citizens, vote conservative.

You vote with Cynthia McKinney and I'll stay with Dr. Condoleezza Rice.

Since you are in the mood to give Maximus lessons in vocabulary and grammar here's one for you:

Apostrophe:

the sign ('), as used: to indicate the omission of one or more letters in a word, whether unpronounced, as in o'er for over, or pronounced, as in gov't for government; to indicate the possessive case, as in man's; or to indicate plurals of abbreviations and symbols, as in several M.D.'s, 3's.

You arrogant, insecure, pompous person. All military men must obey the orders of the Commander in Chief, regardless of who he is. It does not matter whom the military person 'votes' for - he must obey the orders of the Commander in Chief. Thanks for the grammar lesson. I'll check with The Citizen as to why it didn't take the apostrophe when I registered - and I'm not going to change my moniker now - Professor Mixer. Good gracious man - we're having a serious discussion here and you worry about an apostrophe. Your comprehension skills are poor - so continue to cut and paste. Have fun!

The military doesn't criticize the military just as Delta employees don't criticize other Delta employees of the same station.
It is their job and future! What makes sense doesn't have much to do with it, especially for an 18 year old in Iraq.

The more one fills his head with liberal elitist garbage, the more likely they are to become liberal elitist garbage spewers. These so called journalists started out as whining liberals and became journalists because they wanted to change the world, not because they wanted to find and expose the truth or report reality.

The reason so many academics are liberals is because they haven’t been exposed to the real world. They’ve been hiding on their campuses from our evil capitalist society since the Beatles’ first tour and they won’t leave until they’re drug out in a pine box. Their mission is to send liberal elitist garbage spewers out into the world, not to educate.

You know the saying – “"If you're not Liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not Conservative when you're 35, you have no brain." I guess I had no heart.

Journalists don’t want to report reality and academics don’t want to educate. I guess they have just dedicated their lives to irritating people like you who deride the MSM while reveling in the fringe media. Suits me. I’m not trying to change your mind. Believe whatever makes you happy.

There are tens of thousands of journalists and writers. I doubt you asked them very much!
The fellow who wrote "The Grapes Of Wrath," I'm sure would be called a democrat.
The lady who wrote "To Kill A Mockingbird," I'm sure was a bleeding heart liberal.
Can't you just imagine the horror that our country would be in if journalists didn't write so we could keep check on devious people.

I hate to throw cold water on another right wing outrage but a few other numbers might help to put this story in perspective.

The Society of Professional Journalists has nearly 10,000 journalists in the United States. Only 144 were apparently foolish enough to contribute to political candidates--and some of them were part-time contributors, sports writers, travel writers, etc.

I do not doubt for a minute that most journalists are liberal. Commitment to a free press and questioning of those in power makes one lean in that direction. I think it is also safe to assume that most businessmen are Republicans and almost all radio talk show hosts are off the chart conservatives.

By the way, 92 journalists have been killed in Iraq. I think it is safe to assume that their families are not Republicans now if they ever were.

Maybe because they cover stories in depth and you only read a 500 word count or see 1 to 3 min video, they are on to something you are missing.

Like how screwed up our whole fergin policy is not just Iraq. What 13 dead in 48 hrs? The count over 3500. We can reach 'Nam #'s pretty quick from here.
