Giuliani wins Georgia?

Kevin Wandra's picture

It's less than a year away from the 2008 presidential election, and Hillary Clinton appears to be the Democratic front-runner. As for the Republican race, it appears far more muddled. My question today is, does Rudy Giuliani have a legitimate shot at winning Georgia's 2008 Republican presidential nomination? Will his stances on taxes and national security help him overcome his liberal social views in Georgia, one of the most conservative states in the country?

At present, I am solidly behind....no one.

There is not a single GOP hopeful who can lure me to the polls.

I suspect that I am not unique in this respect. The GOP is divided like never before. As Peggy Noonan so eloquently put it, GWB has squandered his inheritance. The result may well be that republicans might lack the incentive to get out and vote in droves for whoever wins the nomination.

At this point, I'm thinking that the only person capable of uniting the republican party and getting them out in force to vote is...Hilary Clinton. If Hilary gets the democratic nod, I'll be strongly inclined to vote for whoever opposes her.

Don't worry so much about Hillary being President--Bill will watch her closely. He was very successful and will keep her from turning us Communist. I really don't know how she could spend any more money than the republicans, get into any more wars than they do, rise the price of fuel any more than they do, cause our citizens to owe any more than they do now, personally, in addition to the national debt, and create any more thieves (white collar).
She would really have to work to do all that!
She may turn our country a couple of shades darker, but that has been happening for many, many years. It'll be OK!

It's with two "Ls" not one, right? Like "hell" and "bullcrap." (Hilary Putnam is a male philosopher; Hillary Clinton is a female threat to national security and democratic freedom. I'll remember it now.)

I spoke somewhat tongue-in-cheek. There are some possible scenarios in which Hillary would be the better choice:

Hillary Clinton vs. David Duke
Hillary Clinton vs. Lassie
Hillary Clinton vs. Howard the Duck
Hillary Clinton vs. Tom Cruise
Hillary Clinton vs. Comatose Guy

Goodness. I seem to have run out of possibilities. Eye-wink

Mathematics, Matter and Method. That was a long time ago! This is the first time I've heard his name in 17/18 years! I had a philosophy of math class one semester (I majored in math). I loved my philosophy classes and I had quite a few. They were all awesome!

It's 2 "ll's" -- she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary, wasn't she? Laughing out loud

How about Hildebeast vs. Rosie?

Like I said before, anyone who is thinking about voting for Hillary Clinton should read the book I recommended.

Hillary Clinton as our President is just plain scary! My opinion and I'm keeping it!

If you think Lassie will make a better president than Hillary - VOTE!! But be very careful - we may be in a worse situation than we are now!
That's all I'm saying.

WHY? With all the talent that this great country possess are we having to choose between a dog and a Hillary? Bush, Hillary, Edwards, Gore, Giuliani, McCain, Obama, Pelosi, Lott, Reid...... How much lower can it get?

Muddle's post is scary. When a young, thinking American would cast a vote for ANYONE who opposes Hillary Clinton - we're in trouble. I'm hoping that he is truthful when he says 'strongly inclined'. I respect those who become familiar with the issues by reading, researching, talking with friends and families, etc., etc., etc. This election is too important to the American people for them to abdicate their responsibility to intelligently participate in the election process. Listen to all of the candidates - no matter their political affiliation - and VOTE! (I'm sure Muddle will!)

It's difficult to disagree with Muddle. I believe that Hillary is one of the greatest threats that freedom has ever seen. Socialism to the point of Communism, a hatred for individuality, a hatred for capitalism. That being said, a more dangerous candidate could arise, but I doubt it.
Not that matters much in Georgia, a largely conservative state that is no where near the fence. Hillary simply will not win the vote in Ga.
