Good Bank Bad Bank

I am soooo fed up with the bank I'm currently using that I'm thinking of changing banks. Would you folks mind sharing the pros and cons and general information that will help me choose my next bank?

I looked into opening an account at Wachovia. A neighbor of mine was in line ahead of me to cash a check at a branch. After she left the bank, a teller remarked to another teller "look at this, she drew her account down to less than a dollar left!" I turned around and left right then, I didn't need to know my neighbor's bank balance and I didn't want anyone knowing mine.

I once had a very well-dressed bank manager of Bank of America lock the door in my face at 3:55 pm once as I was trying to cash a check. I showed him my watch and pointed to the 4 pm closing sign. He said do you have an account here? No I don't. Come back tomorrow. *rolleyes*

Peachtree National Bank and Bank of Georgia both have excellent staff and service (I have accounts there) but I've noticed the service has gone steeply downhill at PNB since they announced their name change (holds on checks that didn't used to be there, changes in policies, etc).

The worst service I've seen, though, has to be Bank of Coweta. I went there about a year ago to purchase a Jumbo CD (they had great rates back then). A vice president had me cool my heels outside his office door for 15 minutes...now, I want to give HIM my money right? And he's making me wait? Turns out he was doing the crossword puzzle in the newspaper. I walked out in disgust.

My neighbors think the Delta Credit Union is the best, but I'd recommend Bank of Georgia.

I agree that a credit union is generally the way to go. Delta is a good one, but so is Southern Federal Credit Union. They have several branches in Fayette & PTC. Check them out.

I wouldn't recommend any bank to you.
What do you want out of a bank?

Ignore $

I use a credit union. Low fees, pretty good service.

what an incredibly rude response to a very simple question. Ya know I went along for a while thinking folks were a little hasty in dubbing you as mean, hateful, lonely, crazy, and the list goes on and on and on . . .but I think I've just changed my mind. You really do need to investigate your head. Did you have troubles being potty trained? What makes you this way?

If anyone, with any sense, has a reasonable response, I'd still like to know.

Dumb questions require dumb answers. All banks compete and are little different.
If you just want to talk, choose a good subject that will do someone some good.

Dollar I declare that was the funniest post you've ever made! After all you are THE authority on dumb posts! I think I will quote that to you every time you post one of your stupid and/or MEAN posts. Our fellow blogger asked a legitimate question and you respond with scorn. You're a nasty person!

eodnnaenaj1, keep on asking questions. We don't mind. Smiling

the folks that have provided good info in a decent manner. I appreciate the input from several sources, helps to know how others feel, or have been treated.

As for this $ person, think about it, it is frightening to think that someone so bitter, so negative, so mean is actually walking around among us. You'd think someone so . . .whatever $ is . . .would be locked up in a soft room. I'll just use the ole southern comment - bless $'s heart.

If you are a legal resident of Fayette or Henry counties, you are eligible for the Delta Community Credit Union. They have two branches in PTC and one in Fayetteville. No bank can beat the services offered by credit unions, especially Delta. Low or no fees for many services; protected Visa card products; low interest rates; higher yields on deposit products; and good employees.
