I'm happy when any crook is busted. It doesn't matter what side of the fence they are on. Most politicians are crooks.

Then let's hold them all accountable. As much as I disagree with Basmati I would gain a lot of respect for him if he only held his side to the same standards as he holds mine. Smiling

Man... Thank God! I got blasted with this huge thunderstorm yesterday. It felt good to stand out in a down pour with thunder & lightning blasting all around. This I believe was a first since mid April. We need more.

His voting record is strictly conservative. So, I can understand why you'd think he was a rep. Another example of why both parties are useless.

You're smarter than that. Why did you say something so dumb? Oh, you're just pulling my let aren't' you. Or are you pulling a play from the old Democrat / Media play book that states: "If you tell a lie enough times people will start believing it"?

His voting record is strictly conservative.

Did you keep a straight face while typing that statement? Those words have as much credibility as me stating: Lynn Wastemoreland has the leadership skills, intelligence and a legacy that will rival those of Ronald Reagan, Teddy Roosevelt, or even a Harry Truman.

I can understand why you will probably fall for the "Hillary Is A Moderate" propaganda as the presidential clown race progresses. You did have illusions that Hunstein wasn't a liberal also.

BTW...You Are A Lawyer. Only lawyers defend lawyers like you do. But that's OK. As a Democrat and a Lawyer you do bring up some good points and angles from time to time as you are a very good blogger and contributor here on the Citizen. Smiling

David Scott is a business conservative (not surprising for a Wharton grad), meaning that his votes are more in favor of big business. He is a dem but on issues of corporate money, he votes for business right along with the reps.

Now, I'm not a values voter. His record in that arena appears to be liberal but, I don't select or evaluate politicians on their values. It would be nice if candidates believed as I do. My personal values (reproductive responsibility, marital fidelity, no easy divorces) are very conservative. But I fundamentally believe that the higher they rise on the political food chain, the lower a politician will sink to get votes. In my opinion, most of the pond scum that gets elected these days is not above dragging God into the political arena as some form of proof of their bona fides. I learned long ago not to believe someone who tells me they are a Christian because I'm more inclined to trust the behavior I observe. So, their speeches and votes on moral issues do not resonate with me because they are inherently untrustworthy. Lots of them are bribed, unfaithful to their wives, lying, cheating, scheming sacks of dog poop. And, at the end of the day, we all stand before our Creator and pay the price for all of our sinful ways (not just the ones people parade in the political realm).

I can understand why you will probably fall for the "Hillary Is A Moderate" propaganda as the presidential clown race progresses. You did have illusions that Hunstein wasn't a liberal also.

Hillary a Moderate??? Shocked Oh, c'mon, bud. You can't think I'm that gullible! No, Hillary's a '60s lib masquerading in moderate speech. And what I really dislike about her is that she comes across as completely disingenuous. The mouth is moving but you can read on her face that she doesn't really believe what she's saying. Ultimately, that means you can't know what she believes. But, I still think Hunstein isn't all that liberal. (Ever look at some of her decisions on criminal appeals?) I think she writes well-reasoned decisions -- even when I don't agree with them -- and above all, I respect intelligent logic.

BTW...You Are A Lawyer. Only lawyers defend lawyers like you do. But that's OK. As a Democrat and a Lawyer you do bring up some good points and angles from time to time as you are a very good blogger and contributor here on the Citizen.

How many times do I have to tell you? I only sleep with a lawyer. Laughing out loud If you put a loved one through law school, you tend to pick up bits and pieces of their education as some bizarre form of collateral damage. And a lawyer's spouse also gets to see how despiriting it can be to have the love of your life be the butt of a lot of mean jokes. I'm not a lawyer or a Dem (or a Rep, for that matter) but I do try to add a different perspective to the discussion here. Thanks for recognizing that.

By the way, I read the link about Ballard. All I can say is, even a murderer's mother will say that he was a good boy and never gave her a moment's trouble. And she's right. He was a good boy -- around her and he never gave her a moment's trouble. The victims, however, have experienced a different person. So, I don't hold it against people who testify on behalf of people they like. I just write it off as one more person the offender hoodwinked.

Yeah, yeah . . . I know . . . you still think I'm a lawyer because I defend lawyers. (shrug) Would you have me any other way? Eye-wink

That whole William Jefferson thing is an attempt for the establishment to take down an uppity Negro congressman and put him back on a Louisiana bayou plantation where he belongs. Another reason good old boys are after Willy J is because he carries the name of the our first Afro-American President. Yes, Mr. William Jefferson Clinton. You have to understand that Willy J is really a very good boy.....just ask his momma. So I'm not sure why you are gloating that an innocent man is being taken down by a Bushie judicial system. You see... your pleasure in seeing Willy J hung reeks of racism.

Did that answer your question? Smiling Eye-wink

I'm an equal opportunity critic of both parties when there's corruption, but since the link says Scott is a democrat I doubt you will hear much hearty agreement from the above bloggers. I've been reading here a while and the venom seems to only flow to the right side of the fence.

Having Jefferson (cold cash in the freezer) still sitting on a Congressional committee sticks in my craw.
