Challenge to NAACP

In the last month in Fayette County we have seen armed robberies at Radio Shack,Big Lots,B.P.,Dollar General,Shell on 74,an attempted carjacking and home invasion on Westbridge Rd. all committed by young black males. So what does our local NAACP do? They host a meaningless real estate semminar for first time buyers.(oh yes they also sponsored a symbolic parade)I am challenging the NAACP to step foward and be proactive in stopping this epidemic in black crime. I know that the majority of black residents are just as upset(and probably embarressed)as all other Fayette Countians however I'm afraid the leadership in the local NAACP are not among the upset people. This is obvious by their deafening silence. Do something to get the black community involved in helping local authorities prevent and solve these crimes.

Let's have a seminar for the entire community given by law enforcement entitled: "How citizens can help prevent crime and identify criminals in Fayette County." It is disingenuous to challenge the NAACP, when organizations supposedly representing the Christian community, the 'white' community, the 'male' community - are not being challenged with the same issue when their 'members' are involved in criminal actions. The description of the suspect in the Dollar General store robbery fits almost every light-skinned black (or hispanic,or east indian, or asian, or 'white' with a tan) male on the street! We need to learn to be more descriptive - so that law enforcement can catch these criminals. I hope that Fayette County residents don't fall into the 'race-baiting' trap that will hinder the apprehension of the criminal element on our streets. Who would you look for if the description stated the suspect is a white male, about 20 years old, wearing a green jacket? If the suspect took off the green jacket - law enforcement would have to stop just about every other male on the street. Concerned citizens can be trained to be more observant. We can make this county the LAST PLACE a 'thug' would want to enter - if we all accept the challenge of keeping our streets and businesses safe.

Let me preface my remarks by saying that I truly believe that the majority of black citizens in FC are hard working lawful citizens who want a nice crime free community. Before moving to FC I lived in College Park. A wonderful place to live.In the late 70's and early 80's a black THUG element began to move in.Crime went up- quality of living and property values went down.People in the white community who tried to something to curb the rise in crime were acused of race baiting.(sound familiar?) The point I'm trying to make is (and please read this) that white people CANNOT stop this crime wave because they will be branded racists! THE ONLY WAY IT CAN BE STOPPED IS IF THE BLACK COMMUNITY BANDS TOGETHER AND WORKS TO STOP THIS THUGGERY! In College Park the black power structure's goal was to get a black majority at ANY cost. Please don't take this attitude here.Band together and stop it now before we become another Clayton County aka Dodge City.Lets make this a safe crime free community for all!

I understand what you are saying - but can't the hard-working, educated persons in Fayette County work together to stop this attempt at intimidating and robbing citizens in FC? I know of no attempt to 'take over' Fayette County. . . just don't let the criminal element use the 'fear' that 'whites and/or black upstanding citizens' seem to have of 'blacks or white/criminal element’. .and boldly walk into a store, rob it - and walk out - with no fear of consequences. The consequence of 'no action' is that the criminal element wins!! The reason Beverly Hills remains Beverly Hills - is that everyone reports 'unusual' behavior to the police and/or security!! If 'whites' have banded together and stopped crime - tell blacks your secret! In 'poor white' areas - where there are no blacks - there still appears to be 'crime'. Here in Fayette County- we have the opportunity of working together to assist law enforcement. What is 'racist' about working together to maintain a standard of living that we all enjoy? I don't know of any blacks here who would consider it 'racist' to report a criminal action. It's racist to 'assume' that any black person who doesn't have a Fayette County auto tag is a criminal. Clayton County, I understand, never had the economy that Fayette County enjoys today. (Maybe I'm wrong - since I'm relatively new here.) I don't think a 'thug' element lives in Fayette County at this time. . .but I'm not familiar with the north end of Fayetteville - or other cities in Fayette County - except Peachtree City. The maintenance of a safe Fayette County is everyone’s responsibility.

John specifically said
"The suspect was described as a light-skinned black male in his early 20s, approximately 5’8” and weighing roughly 180 pounds. He was wearing a blue hat with white T-shirt material underneath and black pants." Sorry but thats not indian, asian, or hispanic. Most of the crime in fayetteville is committed by black males. It will always be that way. The NAACP? What a joke!

The enlightened folks in Fayetteville have walked up to my husband and asked him if he spoke English. (He was born in Griffin - and his family has been identified as 'Negro' since the 1800's.) I have had well-meaning friends identify our East Indian neighbors as 'black' - meaning African American - because of their color. Take back Fayette - translates into 'hate talk' - and I will no longer respond to your brand of communication. Have a nice day.

They don't care about those crimes. They only care about blaming the white man for all of their troubles.

Let's ask "cool rahim" what the local NAACP has done for him lately. Isn't he one of our local thugs, rather I mean 'VOTS'? And isn't his mommy one of the board members of the NAACP? And isn't Mrs./Ms. Grant still facing her own day in court for OBSTRUCTION of an officer?

I mean, from what I hear, the problems are coming from across the county lines. So, what can the NAACP do? Clayton and Fulton chapters don't necessarily care about some other county and the Fayette Co. chapter couldn't do anything to affect those other counties. So, I'm not sure there's anything that organization could do to stop this.
