A high honor

Bear Creek Middle School is one of 29 schools in the United States chosen to be a NASA Explorer school. The NASA Explorer School team is composed of teachers and an administrator that implement a three-year action plan to address local challenges in science, technology and mathematics education. Along with integration of NASA content into the school curriculum, the school team will participate in a week-long training program in July at Kennedy Space Center. Photo/Special.

The staff, faculty, students AND THE PARENTS should be commended! Additionally, education administrators should use these leaders as a model!!!

Rising Starr is ranked 10th, Whitewater is 25th, Booth 27th, Flat Rock is 49th. The lowest ranked middle school in Fayette County, Fayette Middle School is 57 of 419. Those are a bit better than 277th. There are only 142 lower functioning schools.

With all due respect wheeljc, I don't think we will be taking lessons from the 'education administrators' at Bear Creek anytime soon since they are from a school in the bottom half of all the schools in the third worst state in public education.

“THE PARENTS” you speak of congratulating are doing so wonderfully that the school leads all others in discipline offenses and has over 72% free and reduced lunch participation.

This school is NOT a model of success my friends. Rather, it is an example of why we are at the bottom of the list in public education. Anyone satisfied with it will condemn these students to a life of mediocrity. Low expectations are a recipe for demise.

I hope they can improve this school soon. Maybe this (yet another publicly funded program) will 'help'. The future of those children may depend on it.

Better yet, fire the administration if it does not!
