I kind of wish Georgia would get rid of the county designation on the license plate tags. Tags make it way too easy to make assumptions about people you really know nothing about.
When I first replaced my Maryland with the Fayette Georgia one I didn't put my fraternity's license cover back on the plate because it partially covered the Fayette letters and I wanted
people to know that I was from Fayetteville. Then I realized how silly I was being and put my frat cover back on.
"Tag watching" to me is a very stupid and vain exercise. The majority people in every county of Ga are
decent folk that work hard everyday and want what's best for their families. Looking at a car's county tag can not give you enough information to make a honest judgement about it's passengers.

Personally I think it's interesting seeing where in the great state of Georgia a person is from. Smiling

I like having the counties on the tags. Although my UGA tag has no county at all. Just a big ol DAWG....

I have two vehicles with Fayette tags to make up for the one without.

where you belong...There are reasons for the county tag.Im glad we have it so we can see how my illegals come to our school district.Tell me this xjamaica, do blacks always complain about gov't policies? Always complaining but yet the county health clinic is filled with them. "davidsmom" dont count on your assumption.

Didn't sound like he was complaining to me, sounded like an observation. I believe he's just your worst nightmare, an educated black man.

I live here now, so this is where I belong. I'm a citizen of the United States of American which as far as I know gives me the right to live anywhere in this blessed nation. How does a tag tell you how many illegals come to the school district? I'm one that agrees that immigration laws need to be enforced , will that be accomplished by tag watching?
Ah, you've figured out xaymaca is the old spanish/indian word for Jamaica? Google be praised! I can't speak for all blacks but I'll take a wild guess by saying no, not all black people complain about government policies. One of the things that the First Amendment of the US Constitution guarantees it's citizens is the freedom of speech, so if people want to complain about their government's policies, so be it. I've never been to the county health clinic or plan to. I have full medical insurance for my entire family, so I'll take your word for it as far as who the patrons of the clinic might be.
Have a great day!

You must have misunderstood?
Nobody sems concerned with Marylnd tags, but are with Clayton, Fulton, and Cobb, in excess.
It is a way of saying you don't want certain people to shop here, you see?

I think you misunderstand me dollar.
What I am saying is that the State of Georgia should make license
plates that do not have the county name on them (Cobb, Fulton, Fayette...etc) . They could perhaps still be made available as a vanity plate (like "fight breast cancer","support wildlife" ..etc) but it would no longer be the default.
A Georgian should just be a Georgian. At the license plate level at least.Sheesh.

If that's a clarification, I'd hate to see a mess-up!
The COUNTY puts their name on the plate---not the State.
They do that because it is a seperate charge by each county for the tag and so cops can see if you have the correct one and have paid for it.
Sheesh, as you say!
And...because we want to know from where you came.
We give more tickets to other counties, you see?

I don't understand. Maybe you can supply me with a link?
"They do that because it is a seperate charge by each county for the tag"
What does that mean? That the money that car owners pay for their tags goes to the county? That still doesn't mean there has to be a county stamp on the plate does it? I mean they have computers that can track that stuff by tag number, no?
And...because we want to know from where you came.
Ok, that rings true.

We're questioning this practice also - and there may be a change in the not too distant future.

All this time I thought they put the county's name on the tag just in case my car got lost, he'd be able to find his way home!
